Last night on Iowa Public Televison (PBS) they had a special on vintage RV's (from about 1917 on to the 60's). They were at a vintage RV show at a campgorund in the mountains of Ca. , and toured many of the RV's there (one had 21 vintage RV's he had restored!).
There was an same origianl model like the one Lucy and Desi used in the movie of 'The Long Trailer'. This one has been used once, and stored since 1954, and required very little restoration work (was the same YELLOW!!!).
Of course there were movie clips of Walley Bynam and the Airstream Caravans around the world.
But to me the most interesting were the Teardrops (like sleeping in a coffin?, and the early ones either attached to or towed behind Model T's etc. Was amazing to see movies of some of them being towed down the ruts that were roads back then.
Looked on Google and found this site: http://www.jaycronen.com/vehicles/rv.htm
And there is a forum for vintasge RV's:

Plus other sites on the same subject, to me very interesting, cause as a kid all we did was tent camping with a very heavy/complicated to set up canvas tent, think that may have been used in one of the big wars????
