Hey, I was down assessing where the tornados hit last night and they did a lot of damage, have to go back tomorrow morning with a crew and try and help put tarps on some roofs to help kee the rain out, and we are flooding up here where I live, so sat a prayer there was 11 killed, Monte

I left SW PA this morning and it was 69 and drizzle. I arrived in upstate NY and it is 32 and a trace of snow. There us no way those systems could collide without something severe happening I'm afraid.

The most destructive tornado on record did not appear in Tornado Alley. It happened in Worcester Ma.in the 1950s.

Actually, the deadliest tornado on record, the Tri-State Tornado, happened in 1925. It was on the ground for 3 1/2 hours travelling 219 miles from southern Missouri through southern Illinois and on to southern Indiana and killed 695 people.

You guys can keep your tornados, we will stick with our earth quakes and mountains blowing their tops. Earth quakes seak historic buildings, not mobilehomes. And only one man would not come down off the mountain. You guys most likely received him along with the ash. Snoking

Global Warming? Tell that to West Texas/Eastern New Mexico. Even I-10 is/was closed from Las Cruces, NM. to the Arizona line. Can you imagine the traffic that is backed up on both sides of New Mexico!

In this day and age of instant/long range forecasting, isn't there somewhere safe for these poor people that are loosing their life! That's just horrible in todays world! I know some rest areas in Texas have tornado shelters.

There's a difference between deadly and destructive. As for mfurrh55, you're truely doing the Lords work. I'm always impressed by folks who DO rather than complain about what others do or don't do.

And NYC was in the high 60's the other day, but it's just a natural cycle remember? Study what is really happening to the polar caps. Isolated snow storms and drouts are only side effects of the larger picture. But Fox Commentary (AKA corporate news) says no global warming, right? When did all the chinese pollution start? Were all their little fires to cook and stay warm in the 1800's worst like someone said our earlier settlers were?

We are in an "all about me" mode.

jhenderson, you were correct on the dollar value of damage on the tornado. Must have hit an industrial center or something. The Tri-State tornado destroyed 15,000 homes. Makes you appreciate today's technology to be able to warn us at least a bit.

As to man's effect on the earth, I think we would have to do a lot worse than we've done so far to cause any lasting damage. Seems God knew what he was doing when he created the earth. It seems very resilient when you look at things like volcano eruptions, massive oil spills, tons of atmospheric particulates, and all the water pollution in the past 1000 years. Not saying we don't need to be careful about what we do. From what I've read, the current weather that we are experiencing is due to the exceptionally strong el nino phenomenon which is naturally occurring.

If you want to blame it on man, wonder what those people on Jupiter did to create the Great Red Spot storm? It's been going for at least 400 years with winds around 270 mph.

Just my $.02

I don't need the bigot gov telling me where I'm wrong just to make a tax. Whatever happened with that mine breach in Colorado and the contamination there? A few EPA peeps screwed up. Bad.

Ever noticed that when the EPA or government screws up, it's not much news.
But when a company or a single person screws up, it's followed forever.

Papa. The tornado that hit Worcester tore through the heart of the city. It touchd down outside the city limits and pretty much stayed on the ground to the other side. There was so much destruction the FAA instituted special flight rules with a set traffic pattern to be flown by news people. My uncle spent over a week flying reporters and photographers from all around the country over the site. Worcester was a manufacturing giant at that time. Many factories never came back from the storm.

Google Antartic ice
But Dr Claire Parkinson, a senior scientist at Nasa’s Goddard Space Flight Centre, says increasing Antarctic ice does not contradict the general warming trend. Overall the Earth is losing sea ice at a rate of 35,000 sq km per year (13,514 sq miles).

“Not every location on the Earth is having the same responses to climate changes. The fact that ice in one part of the world is doing one thing and in another part ice is doing another is not surprising. The Earth is large and as the climate changes it is normal to see different things going on,” says Parkinson.

"Study what's really happening to the polar caps" your words not mine.
