viper remote start problems

does anyone have a viper remote?i had one installed a few weeks ago. it keep throwing code p0016. i would disconnect it and the code wouldn't come back. i've brought it back to them twice after the first install and i keep getting the code. i even had them solder it this time. they've hooked it up to my crank shaft sensor and that throws the code. they tried once to my tach but it start but shut right down. any suggestions. i'm about ready to have it removed. thanks

I had the same issue with my 04. 5. Apparently the voltage that is tapped in to the crank shaft sensor can mess up the signal that is sent by an aftermarket performance box. When I had the Hot Juice I was throwing that code and they had no idea what it was. I ended up going with the TST and had serious issues. Between Danny at TST and myself, we finally figured out what the problem was-remote start. I took it off and never threw another code again. Hope this helps.

this might not be alot of help for you newer gen. trucks but as a 95 owner I had no tac wire so I needed a remote start that would use the wait to start lite. DesignTec was the one I went with after trying a few others that would not work. Been working 5 years now and still happy.

thanks for the replies. i think i thought of a solution. the remote starts great. its only when i'm on the throttle heavy is when i get that code. so i'm thinking of tapping into the wire to my crank sensor and putting a switch in. i'll leave it on when i get out of the truck so i can remote start it and let it cool down but when i get into the truck i'll open the switch which will totaly disconnect my remote from the truck. i'll let you know how it works

I just installed the juice and the first time I used my viper remote start it threw code p0016.



will it hurt the truck to drive it with the viper and the juice?

Ireally don't want to give up the remote start, every morning i start the truck before i go outside. When im ready to go the engine is warm and the cab is cool.



does anyone have a solution?

I have been using the Viper alarm/remote start system along with my Edge Juice/Attitude box for two years and have had zero problems. I would contact your installer for the Viper system ask that they solve the problem.
