Just had my NV4500 rebuilt and new clutch installed (LUK). Now when truck is started I have a virbation at idle. It fells like a miss, but a fast miss. When running on the road and up to 75 mph every thing feels fine. I only feel this at idle and up to 1200rpm. I thinks maybe the pressure plate may be out of balance. The shop says that's not likely. My big guestion now is ,can the fly wheel go on more than one way? And can I drive this truck with 5er for about 1000 mile round trip. We're surposed to leave Tue. but I am a little leary. Any ideas.

Thank you.

The flywheel mounts in any position on the crank. No dowel pin or staggered bolt pattern.

There are 2 common method of balance correction on todays pressure plate assemblies, drilling into the casting or even the cover casting for the 1st Gen Getrag clutch, but the NV4500, NV5600 and G56 pressure plates use balance rivets in the cover stamping. These are near the edge of the stamping.

Good luck.

One thing to look at on LUK clutches. They have a ring of weights to increase clamping force as RPMs increase. The dealer put mine in and caught the weights with the pilot shaft. They were shoved way off center and I had a vibration and the clutch would never totally release. They couldn't find it and I didn't until the new one waas toasted. It is worth looking at as its easy to slide the weights.

The miss like is still there, but drove to Mrytle Beach yesterday and it runs fine. Now I'm thinking it make be the fuel system, injector or something. The harder you run it and then let it idle the miss is worst and gets better after we eat. When frist starting up it is pretty smooth.

Thanks for you help.

Dave,

I do not believe that you had a built by LuK clutch with weights on the diaphragm spring that you are describing, I have never seen LuK offer that. (FWIW LuK, lower case u is not a typo. )

But, you most likely had a LuK clutch that was modified with the weights you describe. We could confirm if the part number for the clutch system was provided.

Dan,

Good luck with your truck, and I'm sure that Myrtle Beach thanks you for visiting!
