This is my setup. 1993 cummins 120000 miles tight motor has never towed anything heavier than a 1000 lb boat. stock 18cm turbo, pump 1 1/2 in on fuel delivery screw, 1 1/2 in on smoke, 1/4 down on starwheel, diaphram clocked to most fuel flow. power wagon injectors. stock downpipe w/ 24 inch straight downpipe. seat of the pants feels great. What is your best guess on hp and torque numbers? Is anyone else running a similar setup ? thanks copterdoc

Last spring at BD Dyno Days my truck put out the following:-

HP 220. 2 @ 2780 RPM

Torque 478. 9 @ 1880 RPM

See signature for details. I am still running with the stock airbox and stock exhaust. Pump has not been turned up. I keeping thinking how many more HP could I get if I made those changes. :D :D

HP

AlK,

I am happy to see your numbers. Are those RWHP or engine? I have almost the same setup and am really suprised how much HP you are getting. I am really happy to know mine ought to be comparable :D :D

Jeremy

BTW, I am running a no load high RPM of 2950 to 3000 RPM.

Jeremy,

That is at the rear wheels.

OldSmokey, just ran 257 Hp at the rear wheels at BD Dyno day. I believe his truck is also a 92 4x4, 5speed and of course "Nascarmark" is over 300 Hp. :D :D, so we know the limit has not been reached. :D :D :D

Copterdoc, mine just did 193hp/491torque at the rear wheels on a Dynojet (see sig).

You'll have more rwhp with the injectors, but lose some with the stock trans compared with the DTT-improved one.

Peak rwhp was at 2475rpm (truck will go to 2850), and peak torque was at 1900.

AlK is right; the limits have not been reached. I ran 257hp and 622 torque last weekend. There will be a bit more next time. I almost wish I had gone with POD's for more power, instead of PW's. But, I like to be able to drive around town without smoking everyone out too.

I had mine dynoed when it was set up about the same as yours. The difference is I had a Banks exhaust system installed. Got 195 RW HP and 490# torque. Have had a few things done since then such as timing set at 1. 7, pump turned up "a little more", 16 cm turbo housing, BHAF.

Need to get it dynoed again:D

If it doesn't work, chrome it

Hey Stan,

With the chrome under the hood, you ought to be able to get 200 RWHP:) Just kidding.

I figured the chrome added at least 25 HP!!:D :D Still need to do the air inlet and alt bracket so that should get a few more.

Seriously, I have the Banks mandrel bent exhaust but have been considering going to something larger. The BHAF will work better if the air can get out the back end of the engine and more air might drop the smoke a little.

After seeing the HP and torque numbers from some of the other guys, I figure I'm around 210 HP and 550-600 Ft lbs on the torque the way I'm set up now. But, the only way to be sure is to dyno it. I've missed a couple of chances to do that in the past couple of weeks but we are doing some work on the house that needs to be finished before winter sets in.

Air Filter

Stan,

Just curious if you have ran a K&N air filter before the BHAF. What do you think about it? Any improvements? I also have a Banks (ching) gold plated exhaust. I like it and it sure is better than the stock one. I just hope to be over 200 hp and 500 ft/lb of torque. I am babying the stock auto as much as possible and hope to eventually get it redone by DTT. Talk to you later.
