How come there is no RED DYE GASOLINE????

I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!

I checked snopes.com <http://snopes.com/> , and it is for real!!

Urban Legends Reference Pages: 'Postcard from a Family Member' virus

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with

an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD,' regardless of who sent it to you. It is a

virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of

your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail

address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send

this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25

times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a

friend, do not open it. ! Shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by

Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by

McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This

virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital

information is kept.

COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS. REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND IT TO

THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US.

The real postcard virus/worm *was* for real last year, and I believe it was dealt with. This is pretty much a version of a hoax that has been circulating since 2000 or so. I recently received this warning in an email a few weeks ago, so this hoax is, once again, making the rounds.

As always, never open an attachment from someone you don't know. Never open an attachment you are not expecting. Never open or click/double-click anything if you do not know from whence it came or if you do not fully trust the sender. Be sure you have plenty of fiber in your diet. For a fun time, call 555-0155; ask for John. Pay no attention to emails that don't make much sense. If an email is important, the originator will re-send it.

BTW, I'm not admonishing you (or anyone). Safer is better than sorrier. And some of these hoaxes do require a fair bit of digging to expose them. My sister, who knows better (the Army has drilled data safety/security into her over the years), recently infected Dad's computer with something she picked up from a motel computer (via USB stick). AVG cleaned it up nicely, but it took hours to go through the disk several times with different tools to be sure it was gone. I actually unplugged the computer to keep the worm/virus from going any further when I realized what was probably going on. Then I rebooted in safe mode and started the cleanup.

P. S. According to NANPA, the phone number above is a proper fictitious number (555-0100 through 555-0199). :)
