The cable is there. On the right side, it's flipped and the lever/ cable end is on top of the tube. The caliper bracket is ambidextrous. Looks like a blown seal to me, and it's wicking on the grime. Perhaps a bad run of seals? Is it a pattern yet? Anyone else?

My 14 2500 did this at about 34,000 miles.

Bad seals or poor workmanship by AAM......who knows..... When I gave FCA back my lemon 2014 truck with barely 10,000 miles, one side had a full blown leak and the other side was seeping......

We had the same issue back in the day. I had to replace my rear axle seals on the '95 at @ 85K and we had a lot of trucks through the shop with the same issue.

One of mine looks a bit greasy. The other looks dry.

But it also looks like someone got under there with a hacksaw blade and stole my spare?????

Update on the spare. I know this is a "rear seal" thread, but since I took it off topic a month or 2 ago, thought I could still update it.

I took my truck in for the ORC (occupant restraint control?) recall. And I had previously bought a used rim on EBay for about $105 with no shipping.
Took the rim with me to the dealer to see if their tire service matches other tire service centers. They gave me a decent enough price (matched tire rack) price on a FS Transforce AT.

However, when I picked it up, the truck had 3 FS Transforce AT's and one brand new Firestone Transforce HT. I told them this was unaccepatable, so they are ordering the tire I asked for. I think it was a simple human error and they promised to fix it this week. But it concerns me that they (service writers & parts people) don't really listen or pay attention to what they are doing. The tire they installed is about $35 cheaper than the tire they charged me for. Looks like they will be eating the cost of labor and (cheaper highway) tire.

Not real crazy about any of these firestones. When they wear out, I'll be looking at old threads on here (this forum) for the recommended tires by users.

They promised to get me back in early this week after the tire arrives.

As for the T-25 recall, they say Ram hasn't made the flash available for my module yet.

Got tired of the spare taking up space in the bed. Thought about getting a wilco mount for the hitch receiver.

Instead decided to do what many recommended on here.

Edit: had concerns about the wilco mount blocking the view of my tailgate-mounted camera.

I have 1/4" chain as a safety, and a padlock, but 1/3 way up I have a stainless shackle hidden. The rotted padlock is just a deterrent lol.
My 04 is still on it's original rear seals. I haven't had the axles out yet.

I think FCA is lo balling the suppliers, and we get stuck in the end.

I just used the chains and lock that I had under my back seat. Didn't want to go buy something since I already had overkill tow chains. I just put them to work.

I no longer have a winch. It took about an hour and 3 hernias to get it up there.

Got my water pump recall done and paid for a coolant flush. They called me to tell me the truck is done and to tell me what I already know. That I have a weeping rear axle seal. They want to replace the seal under power train warranty, so I'll probably just leave it there and let them.
