Has any one tried or useing the Volant Cool Air Intake System? Do they work well, and what r some other good choises?

I've actually got a Volant brand setup in my garage too. It came with the truck and I never have used it. I'd also be interested to hear anyone's opinion on whether or not it's worth putting it on vs. the stock intake.

Love my Volant, bought one for my old man too, just his is 2500 is stock. You can't go wrong it's a sealed design and looks like money. They just don't get the same play here on this site for some reason. It must cost more to make than some of the 500 buck deals that are out there for sale. Get one you wont be dissapointed.

I sell those intakes, but have never ran one myself. They look like an alright design. The price isn't too bad on them. The price is the same for the 2nd and 3rd gen, but the 3rd gen intakes have a cold air scoop option. Air boxes are like 330. The box with the scoop is like 445 or so. The kits also replace the ducting to the turbo. I guess you could compare it to an aFe stage 2 set up then.

Iv'e had mine on the truck for about a year now. Works great just be sure you buy it with the 8ply filter. The silicone #'s came in low on the oil report. Don't buy the optional scoop you can make one from ABS pipe from Home Depot.

I like this intake

After lots of lookin, readin, etc, etc, I will order this intake system tomorrow from PSMBuick.com. I think it is the way to go and it sure looks like these folks did their homework. I now use an Amsoil nanotec filter for extreme filtering and low restriction. Check out their website, it's got lots of test data.

I've got the PSMBuick cold air system. I also installed a Cool Blue torque tube (they offer a decent TDR discount) and for around $200 I feel that I have a system that is totally cold air, improved flow, and takes advantage of the stock air filter (or you could go with one of the aftermarket drop-in filters.

Good unit, easy install, makes sense, looks good (cool blue), good filtration.

Cool Blue

Les, what do you make of the torque tube, did you install it with other mods or by itself so as to possibly notice a change just due to the tube install? I've been looking at these but not enough input yet to decide if the 03 would benefit> tks jm

Wonder if the cool torque tube will fit the volant box, does it fit alot of applications?

The Cool Blue is a thick layered "rubber" tube that is flexible, but with internal reinforcements near the two bends. It obviously fits the stock trubo location and stock intake box. I believe it will fit most anything that is close to those stock locations. The bends are very smooth and the layered material will definitely provide significant insulation from the hot engine compartment.

Tomeygun compared the Cool Blue to the new Afe torque tube (one piece plastic one) and I believe he was most impressed with the Cool Blue. Performance wise I don't think any torque tube is a big hitter item. I do not think anyone can really show much improvement on a dyno with any torque tube only mod. I wanted something that would keep my cold air cold. For the same reason I did not swiss cheese my intake box and allow hot air into it and went instead with the PSMBuick kit, I also wanted to protect that cold air from the hot engine compartment temperatures.

In my opinion, the Cool Blue tube is the best at that function.

Did I mention it looks cool and is blue???? :)
