I've got the Scotty II and wouldn't even consider going to anything else. IMO, the AFE is way overpriced. You're paying for a bunch of marketing and fancy designs that don't do anything performance wise.

The Scotty sounds great and man will it flow the air! Definitley keeps my EGTs in check. It's also coupled with the UNI foam filter which is supposed to be a great improvement over traditional high-flow filter elements.

Contact Dave at Diesel Power Products and he'll set you up with a Scotty II for a great price. I see that Scotty's making them with a clear housing now - very cool.

I haven't heard anything about a Volant intake. It doesn't seem to be a popular choice among the diesel guys.

I pretty certain you won't be disappointed with the Scotty II. The only complaints I've ever heard about it are the weird guys that don't like turbo whistle.

The Scotty II is great for big air flow. Other things to consider though, like the intake is just below the windshield on the passenger side. Passenger is exposed to lots of sucking noise and turbo whistle, if you live where it is real buggy, you must check the filter frequently. On the way to May Madness in Las Vegas, I had to stop and clean the outer filter at the top of the hill climbing out of Laughlin. Was completely covered in small flying insects.

I Installed a Volant complete with its box about a year a go and it has performed great.

I had a K&N filter insert in the old Std box before and I could tell a diference in turbo spin up. It was a lot more responsive. It draws the air from the outside duct above the right wheelwell. I bought the Volant to tie to a snorkel to draw air in from the top of the truck like the ARB snorkels do but haven't got around to welding up the tubing yet since I heard ARB was looking into doing a snorkel for the Cummins.

Have had Volant for app. 3 yrs. Airbox has large nipple on back which faces firewall. I cut the closed end off and cut aligning hole in firewall. Purchased rubber sleeve at Lowes that is suppossed to be for downspout. Fit on outside of nipple perfectly. Got short exhaust pipe piece (3" long x 2. 5" dia. as I remember) from Autozone which fit inside the rubber fitting. Now have cold airflow from stock location and thru cowl. Yes, you can hear it sucking air! Sounds like a 4-barrel carb with aircleaner removed. Get the turbo spinning and you'll have all the whistle you want. Noticed lower EGTs and quicker cool-down after modification. Only downside is slight difficulty removing element for cleaning. Have to remove elbow from turbo to get cone off the other end. Worth the bother? HELL YES
