I dont normally look at the voltage gauge on my truck immediately after starting. Its usually a few minutes after starting that I do. Maybe its always been like this (probably is). But Ive noticed that when I start the truck there is maybe a 30-60 second delay before the gauge shows a full 14 volts. Is that normal ? Anyone else notice that ?

Certainly is if the grid heaters are working. My 01 it would swing from low to correct and each swing would last a shorter period of time and it depended on how cold it was as to how long it took to normalize. The max grid cycle on my 01 was I think 180 seconds unless you drove over 18mph then that would cancel the heater cycle if it hadnt completed

Good to know! I noticed mine is doing the same thing and was thinking I'd be replacing the alternator or batteries soon....
