I am at a very remote location in Baja (40mile dirt road) and was taking my wife to the bus in town. When we left drove about 1 mile and put it in 4X4 to go up a short steep hill. When I took it out of 4by the 4X4 light only went dim not out. Thought that was weird and drove about another 1/2 mile and the check gauges light comes on. I don't think I have ever seen that light before. I check gauges and the volt meter is at 0, all the way down. I had the lights, stereo on. Shut all that off. Truck still running good I turned around and went back to camp and started checking, wiggling, voltmetering. Everything seemed fine. Truck still running I shut it off and started it again and the gauge was working again. Took off and took the wife to town and did a bunch or running around for supply's, starting and turning off the truck at all the stops and no problems.Got back to the beach, and all still is normal. I have been starting it and driving it around every day and it won't do it again.
Now I am getting ready to pull our trailer out of here and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this

thanks Mike

The only issue with volt meter I've had is when cam sensor was acting up. The ECM needs a good signal from the cam to know engine is running so it will turn on alt. Also the battery temp sensor need to be sending good signal. Never went to zero though. Soory can't help much.
