Hey guys got a little problem when I get in the throttle like in 3rd gear the voltmeter gauge drops a little and comes up very quickly during accelleration my thoughts are the belt is slipping on the alternator a bit since the belt I believe is OEM and the truck now has 55,000 miles on it this only happens sometimes though and when it does it the head lights flicker a bit it is doing it when the truck is hot so I know it is not the Grid heater

Thanks

1st question is how many miles on the alternator  Same as engine mileage I assume. Next pull the belt and check the alternator bearings to see if you have side play or end thrust play. Worn bearings can start to give you that kind of symptom.

As far as the belt, look for one called a gator. They have not only the ribs for the pully but grooves that go across the belt which allow it to flex around the pully with more grip, kind of like the ridges in you finger print;)
