For some reason, the volume control on my radio is almost useless. I can twist and twist on it without any change in volume. Then sometimes I can turn it louder and the volume will go down and vice versa. Has my radio become "possessed" or what!!???

Thanks for your help and advice.

Sounds like it is possessed. You could take it to a electronics shop but probably cheaper to get new and improved one.

Try your electronic stores they have good prices(Dogde partsman told me to do this because they charged a lot. They ran out/discontinued the am/fm radio anyway).

My dad's 96 did the same thing. Just yank it and put in an after market radio. I bought a sony Mp3/cd/bluetooth wireless from Crutchfield for $130. It sounds better than the stock one ever did.

If you can wait til I get back home, I have a perfect working factory 97 radio you can have for free.

Great! Thanks, I will give that a try. One question tho, how does the radio come out? I have already packed my service manual and now I need it.

Thanks again.

No manual needed, remove two screws from the cupholder, two from the ashtray, gently pull the dash bezel off and all will be obvious from there, shouldn't take over ten minutes total to R&R the radio. Two screws retain the radio, two plugs and a ground in the back and the antenna lead and it's out.

Thanks for the removal instructions. I will give it a try and get this radio repaired before I head north.

Thanks again.
