Any Good "Machine Runaway" tales?

SCSI hardrive install

Does anyone out there have one of the Volvo S-60 sedans? If so, could you send me some feed back on how you like it and have you had any problems? The wife is looking and she likes these cars. I drove one of the non turbos and it was pretty quick. Ride a little stiff and some road noise inside. Other than this, car seems pretty decent.

I had the predecessor to the S-60, a Volvo 850GLT with the naturally aspirated 2. 4 liter 5 cylinder, 5 speed, leather, sunroof, etc. I drove it for 10 years and 72,000 miles with minimal problems. This was my 2nd Volvo - the first was a 1983 245 Turbo wagon that I kept for 10 years and 85,000 miles. It also was an excellent, reliable vehicle.

I just tried to trade the 850GLT for a S-80 T6 but found that Volvo (now that Ford owns them) is trying to move upmarket and price itself with Mercedes and BMW. Ford is hurting for profits and is looking to the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Jaguar, Aston Martin, etc. ) to pull their fat out of the fire. Long story short - I couldn't justify to myself paying over $17,000 more for the S-80 than an Acura 3. 2TL Type S with the navigation system. The Acura has the same (if not more) equipment, performs better (260 BHP VTEC/5 speed automatic versus 268 BHP turbo/4 speed automatic) and (IMHO) represents much better value for money. Besides, my 1999 Honda Civic Si was an 8000 RPM buzz bomb, but was absolutely bulletproof.

Volvo builds nice cars, but in my case, they have priced themselves out of their customer base in terms of value for money. Although I could have written the check for $46,000 for the S-80, the fact is that there's a $29,000 2003 Acura sitting in my garage today.

Ya pays yore money and ya takes yore choice. :D

Volvo issue

The Oregonian just had a write up on 5 cylinder Volvo's having an issue of flooding in cold weather or driving short distances then shut off. The cure was a special spark plug with a higher heat range. Maybe in California it's not a problem just thought I would post what I read.
