I tried searching but . . .

I know it was covered before - can't find?

Anyway friend has 01 HO. Mentioned if VP goes out switching to SO pump.

I thought an HO needs an HO, and SO needs and SO. Recall that you can do swap as the ECM won't communicate or something?

Can anyone clear this up or place a link to the post that I can't find?

Thanks

i have a cousin that put an so pump on an ho motor and did not get along well. he experienced a massive mpg loss and power loss. he talked to the guys at schied(which is what he should have done before he put the pump on) any way they told him that an so pump on an ho motor results in nothing more than a 15 or 20 hp loss. i have heard the so pump flows better but i think that only comes into play in high horsepower applications.

just my 2 cents worth of experience.

I have an SO pump on my HO truck for the simple reason that the HO pump would not deliver the horsepower I was looking for. The only reason you would want to install an SO pump in an HO truck would be if you are looking for over 600HP, otherwise you might as well stick with an HO pump. If your friend does decide to install an SO pump anyway, you can let him know that he will lose a fair amount of low end power. On my truck, installing the SO pump required me to run the Edge Comp on level three to have the same low end grunt as the truck had stock with the HO pump.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. So, basically it'll work, but loose mpg and only be a + if you're looking to make over 600 HP. As for drivability you'll be running the comp on 3 to get the same low end you had with the comp on 1, interesting.
