Just got the rubuilt pump for the 01. 5. It was still in a sealed bag in a box that said it was rebuilt by Bosch in Germany! My concern is... the number on the key in the input shaft does not match the number on the pump body. However, knowing it is a rebuilt and parts have been changed, I assume it will be alright. Anyone have experience with this?

Steve

The pump key should match the number of the pump.

Since it is a rebuilt pump, if I remember correctly it should have the number 44 on the key to indicate a rebuilt pump.

The number on the pump is 091. The number on the key is 045.

Again, this pump was in a sealed bag and remanufactured by Bosch in Germany. It is even marked on the pump that it was rebuilt in Germany! I can't immagine a reputable company like Bosch would make such a mistake as to install the wrong key... yet they too are humans.

Any other comments would be welcome!

I am not aware of any reason why the key number would not match the number on the pump. I suggest you return it and ask to look at another remanufactured pump. If the numbers match on the other pump(s), I would ask for a replacement. It's too much work to put on the pump just to verify that it is incorrect, and then you will have a big hassle trying to get it corrected.

I was looking the pump over this afternoon and found my answer. When they rebuilt the pump they did not remove the old key number. However, on a boss ON TOP of the pump near where it mounts to the motor they stamped the new number with timing info. The key DOES match the new number! I'm sure I am fine. Sorry for the false alarm, but I learned something.

Thanks for posting your discovery. I think many of us may be looking at reman. pumps in the future, your info is good to have.
