Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) vp 44 part number?

i seen a reman injection pump on ebay for sale and it has the cummins part number but when i called cummins they said they can't tell me what it fits or what years? is there any way of knowing. they tried to tell me that every single pump was different for every single engine. i think i got a hold of somebody that doesn't know much. he also proceeded to tell me that every lift pump was different, or it might cause the truck to smoke and carry on. does anyone know what this pump might fit as far as year and h. o. or standard. part # 3944983rx?

I just talked with Harry at PDR yesterday, so I know there is a different part number for the SO's and HO's. He was calling the SO pump a 27 and the HO pump a 28. I don't know if this helps you at all, but its what I know.
