So how will we know if we got the upgraded board? Also wasn't there some internal upgrades like steel vs brass awhile back as well and how would we know if we get those as well.

ONLY be dealing with reputable rebuilders, and asking pointed questions...

I would want to know they were an "Authorized Bosch Rebuilder" and ask them what they do to rebuild a VP44. Do they what????????????????????

Southeast Power Systems has the huge Bosch calibrating test stand meaning they have invested BIG $$$,$$$. $$ to do this. They are in my area and "I" would go to them.

I think there are other vendors that have the Bosch test stand.

I would also check with Scheid Diesel in IN, I think they might have one also.

Pier's comes to mind also.

Call Rip Rook www.sourceautomotive.com. He is a supplier, but has a great deal of knowledge and might have good input to "who rebuilds them vs who is a Bosch authorized rebuilder" might be a difference.

Seems like there is one somewhere up in the Boston MA area as well.

I would want to know what is replaced, and what the tolerances are, where are the weak points?, what about the electronics, new, rebuilt, the FedEx board?, updates to the electronics? Electronics and heat cycles seem to be an issue.

My basic question would be "What do I do, and how do I do it to keep this from failing again before 150,000 miles".

Then report back to TDR and let the rest of us know.

Industrial Injection is a rebuilder, and one of their employees, Brett Williams, has been acive on the TDR supplying information. I'd give them a shot along with the other vendors mentioned.

Brett has claimed that Ind Inj is even willing to warranty the mechanical parts on a tapped pump wire, but they can't get warranty on the electronics from Bosch if the pump wire is tapped.

On edit - here is the thread that answers most of the questions put forward by Bob Weis (except the big one - how to keep it from failing :D - that's the holy grail).
