Any tips or pointers on removal and installation on a vp44 on a 2001 24 valve? Have dead pedal syndrome. Along with new injection pump going to install a holley pusher pump on frame rail.

You can leave the injector lines on 3, 5 and 6. This can also keep you from dealing with the rear lifting bracket as well. Take cylinders 1, 2 and 4 off the pump and the injectors, loosen 3, 5 and 6 from the pump and push them toward the block gently. That will clear enough room to get the pump out. All you need to do is loosen their hold downs for these lines to give you some play. Also find a small mirror to verify that the key way one the pump shaft is at the 12 o'clock position before you slide the pump back.

put something on the key like loctite or superglue to make sure it doesn't fall out while your sliding the new pump into the gear. Ask me how I know:) Also, make sure the key is in the right way too.

for injector line #6 I found the crows-foot greatly helpful. The directions I found here on TDR made it not a problem, I also got a little magnetic light to shine into the breather hole to help see the key. I did take all the injector lines off, and the lifting eye, my opinion was worth the extra time to remove.

That is a good point, I assume you have codes that confirm VP? The two I lost would both idle, but choke and pop anything above idle input. Both unites had codes that confirmed VP.
