I have an 01 Dodge 3500 Cummins Automatic

Have had the following issues for some time:

1. When cold, I get barely any acceleration for the first 2-5 minutes of driving and the power is back on. I can mash the pedal and nothing really happens.

2. Driving at a sustained rate of speed (say 50-60 MPH) on flat ground, the accelerator goes limp and I cannot immediately accelerate. I also loose some speed, but very slowly.

In order to accelerate again I can mash the gas pedal and it will downshift and then have power again, or I can let go of the pedal completely for 5-10 seconds and then press it slowly again and I have power.

It seems that this does not happen if enough effort is required by the truck, such as when driving up a steep hill.

Both of these symptoms (1. and 2.) occur with the engine running perfectly smooth, no coughing, misfiring or any other sign of trouble.

I did replace the turbo pressure sensor twice. The first time it helped for a month or two and then the symptoms came back. The second time it helped for a very short time only.

My lift pump failed about 5 years and 30K miles ago and a FASS lift pump was installed at the time.

Anyone have similar problem and what was the problem if resolved?

All the Best,
Stefan

Cycle the key on and off three times, leaving it on the third time. Write down the codes displayed on the odometer. P0216 is bad news. SNOKING

Don't rule out a bad APPS (Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor), they'll do pretty much the same thing...

Lot's cheaper than an injection pump too...
