Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) vp-44 warranty

i have a 2001 with 90,000 and got the p0215,stalling,dead pedel,etc. my warranty booklet states that warranty begins at the end of the basic 3/36 limited warranty period. sec. b states parts are covered for 5 years or 100,000 miles. to me this should be 8 yrs or 100,000. should i waste my time and make an appointment at dc or just do it myself?

The 5/100 starts at the in-service date (date of first purchase usually).
