Well, seems here in the next few months I'm going to join the "elite" VP replacement club. I think I've settled on getting a BlueChip Diesel pump. I like the added durability they seem to have figured out. A HRVP from II is awful tempting, though. Does anyone have a lot of experience with the HRVPs, are the internals also upgraded to be more reliable than a standard VP? The next part is the fuel system, I have the in-tank-pump now, not too interested in that working on destroying a new pump right away. I think Glacier Diesel has a good setup, I'm a little worried about fuel pickup from the tank. I generally run my tank down to 1/8 of a tank before I refill. I've seen the new draw straw from Vulcan, looks pretty cool, but is it true that you can't run below 1/4 tank with that installed? Will the ITP be good enough feeding a Glacier Walbro?



Questions, questions, questions. I know with the lift pump stuff there's as many answers as people out there. I'd like to hear what people who have the ITP are doing, just removing it or stacking pumps?
 
I removed my ITP. I bought a factory tank module off of E-bay. Then i put the GDP system on my truck. It works great. If you have any questions just ask. Jeff
 
I think I'm going to try adding a 7 psi pusher on the frame near the tank. If it fails at the same rate as the lift pumps, I'll do the Walbro setup...

Is that in addition to an in-tank pump, or ahead of an original style lift pump?
 
From what I'm told the hrvp does not last any longer. It's claim is extra hp on a "stock" truck. I went with just an upgraded standard vp. My installer said it wasn't worth the extra money. He had dynoed a lot of trucks with the hr vs. the standard and it was only good for about 15hp on a modded truck. I think lots of lubricity is the only way to save our pumps anymore. Good luck! :)

In addition to the in tank pump. My hope is the 7 psi Carter will last longer than the 15 psi Carter pumps. Not holding my breath though. :rolleyes:
 
If you cut the draw straw at the right angle and measure right you will be able to get down pretty low, within reason. When I put my draw straw in I only had about 2 gallons in the tank and the truck was pointed down hill. I had to add fuel to get it started. I added about 3-4 gallons. Truck strarted. I don't know how much it would have took, but I usally fill up when I am at 1/8 tank. I highly recommend the draw straw. While putting in the draw straw I got to see first hand all the restrictions in these modules. I had the intank pump, but I kept the old module from when we put the intank pump in, intank pump was free( Warranty). My recommendation would be to replace the intank with the old style module and put a draw straw in it or something close to it. A lot of kits work well with the old style module, I would not recommend using any pump with the intank pump besides the oem lift pump or a 7 PSI pusher. I ran the oem lift pump with the intank pump for a while and got 25 PSI, the lift pump was by the tank with a Vulcan big line kit. Was a real good setup at the time. I just wanted to go to one pump, 1/2 lines front to back, and the bigger pickup line in the tank. I chose to go with a FASS II, but there are lots of other and cheaper options.
