Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) vp failure rate on new pumps

Whats the chance of failure on a new vp44 when the pump wire is tapped? I know the early 98/99s had a good chance of failure, but what about the new replacement pumps that are installed from DC under warranty? I have done a search but have not found anything about failures on replacement pumps.

From what I have read the failure rate is not as great in later manufactured VP44's. But you can still kill them.
