The last time i worked on a vp, it came out no problem. Mine is being a PITA.
Last night i used a T puller and it would not pop loose. I finally put a cheater bar on the wrench and it finally popped, but it was the bolt that broke in the gear... ... .....

About 1/8 of the corner of the broken bolt was sticking out and after a few choice words, got it out without dropping it down the gear case.
This morning i tried to buy a blue chip SP504 pump press. Nobody at snapon had one in stock, would have to wait till monday.
I called a fuel injection company 20 miles away and the foreman let me borrow his bc puller. ( I Will be sending my business and every body else i know to them. )

I cannot get it to pop off. The pump is kinda loose but i can not get it out. What am i missing. I have it as tight as i dare without stripping the bolts/gear.
I tried some PB blaster on the key and can push the red extension tube in above the key, so it is not contacting the top of the gear, but the sucker wont come out.
What am i missing.

Torch is down. I did make a piece of 3/4 in pipe and elbow, and a nipple crushed down to 1/2 wide and set it in the hole under the puller and put the paint stripping gun on hot and shot it down the pipe and got the bottom of the gear hot enough you could not touch it, with a lot of pressure on the t puller, and added more pressure when done... ... ..... nope.
I will let it go over night with the pressure and try heating it again in the morning.

The last one I changed out on BlackSheep was severely stuck. Tried my homemade puller (which has been used on several trucks previously) and ended up breaking the bolt like you did, except the broken piece would not come out. Pulled the gear case cover off and tried 2 and 3 leg gear pullers to no avail. Borrowed a real nice gear puller that has the threaded cross bolt to keep the legs tight on the gear, nada. Finally had to use some significant heat with that puller and she popped off. The pump shaft had some spots on it that appeared as if it were rusty at one time which was not what it looked liked when I originally installed it. Lucky for me I had a used pump gear off a spare engine to get it back together. Was afraid to use the gear I put lots of heat to.

Godspeed,
Trent
