Im going to be doing this soon and need advice. Never done this before but feel confident I can with the right help. I have the service manuel but Im sure there are a few tricks not known when the factory wrote it. I also need to know what gaskets and tools I will need and where to get it all?

Looks like a real nice write up on both of those in the latest TDR mag, just got mine today and haven't got a chance to read the whole thing.

You'll need a special gear puller to push injector pump shaft out of gear. This is the only tool I needed to replace my pump. Fairly easy job once you get everything out of your way. Check www.snapon.com do a search for cummins tools and they have injector and gear puller kits for the 5. 9 . Make sure you get all of the bolts loose for the pump, I didn't and I compromised the gasket on the front gear cover which has to be resealed by taking everything off the front of the motor. :( If you need a gear puller pm me .

Hi, is anyone using the HVLP lift pump in the tank? What can you tell me about it? Thanks, Lee

There are people that can tell you things about it, but probably nothing good. It's hard to believe how they increased volume while decreasing pressure through the same fuel delivery lines.

A couple of members are considering putting a pusher outside of the tank just behind the intank pump. No feedback on the success yet.

Thanks for the answer. I don't like it eather. But my dealer installed that under warrenty free. They said the didn't use the pressure pump any more and can't get one. I was thinking about also using a after markit pressure pump along with the one in the tank. Maybe that would help it last longer.
