Has any one out there fixed there VP44 electronics them self. I found another web site where people are having success repairing there own electronics in the VP44 if they have been getting the P0216 Timing failure code only. This fix does not repair a mechanical problem only the electronic problem. There using a Mosfet IRFZ44N Transistor. Here is a link to some pictures and a video showing how to remove the electronic brains along with there written description. I ham going to attempt this repair when I get my replacement pump here for back up. Just incase I screw it all up. :-laf:-laf:-laf

1st take off intake elbow

2nd is to take off the throttle linkage and APPS, just put to the side there's only three bolts and a wire harness underneath it

3rd is to take off the top of the injector pump UNPLUG IT FIRST THEN REMOVE . PLEASE DONT REMOVE THE PUMP LEAVE IT ON THE TRUCK follow the link to utube it will show you how to take it off.

4TH Take off the plastic cover you see in the photos. Take it to a electronics guy to do the soldering for you, tell the guy to follow the pictures of where and how to solder it in. And you should be good to go.

DONT GO AND BUY ALL THE SOLDIERING GEAR AND ATTEMPT IT YOURSELF UNLESS YOUR A ELECTRONIC OR INSTRUMENT TECH WITH GREAT SOLDERING SKILLS.

Ok, I replaced the pump this last weekend. Before replacing I tried the VP44 Fix!!!! Is this fix possible,, YES. Is it easy NO, I was able to remove the electronics according to all the info available and it came out of the truck easy. When trying to remove the plastic SEALED cover over the electronics I broke the cover while prying up on it, carefully. I did not understand that there was very tacky putty sealing it up as well. It was not glue or silicone almost like a glazing compound. The cover has a dovetail in it as well to lock in to the inside edge as well. After braking the cover I scrapped the electronics fix and changed out the VP with the new one I had. In the picture attached you can see that even this guys cover was broken on the lip or dovetail area. Altho he was probably able to seal it up with silicone when reassembling. I did not try to fix my broken cover because I was worried about water or moister getting in at some point and shutting me down.
