How tight is this VP44 gear. I have my puller on it & am cranking on it PRETTY DARN TIGHT & its not coming lose. Im afraid of cranking on it too much.

Mind you with the fan & radiator there, I dont have great leverage, but its darn tight. I just changed the coolant in it last summer so I REALLY dont want to have to remove the radiator to get more leverage on it, but ... ... ... ... ... .

thanks

I helped my brother in law do his 02 about a year ago & it was pretty friggin tight! Tight is kinda a relative term though... ... Good luck.

I finally busted it loose. I tightened it up & went in & watched a bit of football, then went out & tightened a little more & then watched another 15 minutes & one more little tweak & BANG off it came.

thanks

bob

I have a pretty long breaker bar, and mine came loose OK, but yeah - they are tight!

Take a hint, and apply a dab of white paint on the nose of the VP-44 key - it will make it easier to peek in to visually make sure that key is properly located and seated between the gear and shaft when you put it all back together.

Good luck!

Make sure you New VP-44 key is in good you don't want it to fall out in the motor. I know, it will kill your whole day if it does.
