Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) VP44 Lift Pump problems

Hi all,

I'm fairly new here and am hoping someone can help me with this. On my 99 Dodge 3500 I've been having a problem keeping my lift pump running. It will run for 4sec. when the key is turned on and 25sec. when cranking as it should. But when the engine is running I will either loose pressure altogether or have it drop low enough to activate the low pressure warning light. When the L/P was replaced I had the same problem. I have gauges on both sides of the filter to check differential pressures. The pressures react the same on both gauges so I don't think it's a filter problem. About 6 months ago I bypassed the L/P wiring and wired it off a switched leg in the fuse box. It worked fine until a week ago when I started getting the warning light on again when under load. I checked the gauges and found that the pressure had dropped from 15PSI to 10PSI and at times down to 5PSI. Has anyone had this problem and found a cure? I find it hard to believe that a new pump would wear out in less than a year. Any thoughts on aftermarket fuel deliverly systems other than the expensive FASS system?

the fass pump is the way to go. the stock pump is 'junk' just like the 1 thats in the fuel tank it's junk too. the fass pump for your truck is 389. 00 from us.
