I can't open the u tube video's - blocked at work, home has slow dialup. Could someone burn a dvd for me? PM me...

I think my pump is origonial at 236k miles. Fass pump & smarty ECM (set to#9) installed at 150k. About the brass timing ring: Are all the rebuilders upgrading? How do you specify/check for a 2002 core?

That's something I forgot to mention-the truck was/is far from stock either. 10000 kilometres in, it got an EZ. Not far after that for 275's-then a DragCOMP and BD2s. Hasn't had the easiest of lives. Not going to say that it wouldn't have failed the day after I pulled the engine-and I think it probably had deteriorated some over time. But it still ran decent.

I think any of the reputable rebuilders are doing the upgrades now, correct? IE the FedEx module, etc. ?

on midwest diesel injection i believe it says the p1688 code always means pump is dead no futher inspection neded. they listed a bunch of codes that can mean pump is dead 216 being the most common. thats what mine had at 50,000. they had the best price and no up front core charge and at that time free shipping both ways. robert

I bought mine from Diesel Performance Parts in Nashville. $1300 bucks, but I was assured that their rebuilder replaced all parts possible with new ones.

My lift pump went out at 83k and soon after (about 1000 miles) the original VP44. I replaced the lift puump with the in-tank up-grade from Dodge and installed a new Blue Chip VP44. They feature new electronics and a steel bushing rather than the brass one that Bosch originally designed them with. As an added precaution, I'm running 2-cycle oil in my fuel to add the lubication the ULS diesel fuel lacks. When I had the VP44 failure I had both the 1688 and 216 codes showing. The truck is running fine and I feel better about installing the Quadzilla XZT+.

I have not heard of running 2 stroke oil with the ULS Diesel. How is it working and how much do you use per gal of diesel? Would this also work for B20?

I heard about running the 2-cycle oil in a posting on the Dodge Diesel Truck Resource (DDTR) web site forum. I use 4 pints per tank, my tank is 35 gallons. I've noticed improved fuel mileage, quieter running engine and VP44 and overall smoother performance. I currently get 21-22 mpg (hand calculated). With the added lubrication the VP44 also runs cooler, which aids the electronics on the top. One of the primary modes of failure in the printed circuit is crystallization of the soldered connections due to excessive heating cycles. I have 100k on now and all is well. Take a look at the DDTR web site for a good explanation, use the search function. Also, I haven't needed to use an injector cleaner yet.

As far as using on your B20 fueling system, I really don't know but I do know that the more lubrication you introduce into the fuel, to a point of course, the better the diesel engine will run and the longer it will last. The ranchers in my area add used motor oil to their tractor engines.

I will be making run to NM next week. I think I will give this a try. Anything to help the VP44 last a bit longer and get beter MPG

Sent you a PM but putting this up for anyone else that may want these on a dvd, finally got around to downloading, converting and making a dvd this past weekend, that way i wouldn't have to rely on an internet connection to view them, plus watching them on the larger tv never hurts either.
