The truck has developed a knock that is noticable on decelleration from 1600 rpm to idle. The HRvp44 is new and the knock started shortly after install, the truck has 210,000 km making it possible for the bearings to be shot. I thought at first it was injector knock so I changed them out with a new set on jammer 3's and adjusted the valves and there was no change. You can't here any knocking under power or at idle but there is an occaisional miss at idle.



I'm think I will pull the hrvp44 and send it in for testing, I guess if it not the pump it's engine pulling time.



Any ideas would be helpfull.

When you say "knock" like a loud rythmic one? Or does it sound like a injector popping off. The reason I ask is that the pump is louder than a stock VP. That is why I am asking. I can hear my SHOVP over the injectors popping off... ... . do you have a miss or any other signs of trouble?

Sorry just re-read your post, the miss at idle is normal with that pump. I have the same thing as well as others, let me guess if you are sitting at a light and just release the clutch a little bit all is good? Myself I ended up having to change the APPS, well I had a code and dead pedal, but the truck still has a slight miss at idle... ... ... ... ... nothing to worry about, if this is what yours sounds like.

I knock is only noticable if for instance your in third gear at 2200rpm and you let off the throttle as the rpm's decrease starting at 1600 rpm a knock or ticking starts and stays noticable all the way down to idle. It sounds like it could fuel getting injected, but I believe these pumps dont add any fuel unless you apply the throttle.



SpicyJam does you vp make any noises when your coasting / decellerating?

Mine makes a sound as if I have a miss, if when accelerating if I leave my foot in one postion, coast before shifting hense strange sound at 2200rpm, until I shift and get back in the throttle... ... ... ... I get a strange unrythmic rattle of the injectors. When I pin the pedal all is smooth, I really don't have a noise when downshifting though. I sell these pumps and the noise's I am hearing are normal as to what I have heard in other peoples trucks.

This is pretty hard to explain over text. I do not think you have an engine problem, but then again I am not there to hear your truck run, but it sounds as if we have the same symptoms... ... ... and I am not worried. Later Jim.

The truck runs great when you put your foot in it. It only makes the knock or tick if your slowing down( no throttle), and once the rpms get down to 1600 rpm and as they continue to go down the noise starts and and goes away once it starts to idle( approx 800-1000 rpm), there is no knocking under part, full trottle or at idle at any rpm. It only makes the noise with no throttle appied and decellerationg from 1600 rpm, If I was to apply the trottle at say 1200 rpm when it was knocking the knock goes away and all the power is all there.

HRVP44 issues

MY SYMPTOMS WERE THE SAME!

I started with the HRVP44. After about a week, i decided that I could not deal with the obnoxious behavior of the HRVP44. I went back to the stock pump and a set of +90 HP injectors. Lucky for me my mechanic "Power By POOLE" was very understanding of my concerns. My truck runs great now! Smooooth power now!

I have never heard of such? I am curious also.

BTW the HRVP44 does what it is suppose to do. By no means is everyone going to be happy, and I tell people that up front what to expect with the pump, so because one does not like by no means does everyone think it has "obnoxious behavior" I am and actually driving with the box off has been great. Truck has great street manners, I just don't think people should make coments like that when they don't understand the pump itself.

Did your pump make ticking or knocking noise when decellerating? The pump makes power and I like that, If the ticking is normal I can live with that I just want to verify it's normal before I go bagging it.

The injectors are 90 hp above stock which is why I say 345 hp. POWER BY POOLE can tell you the brand

The HRVP44 may do what is supposed to, however after a phone call I "was" told by the reseller (that I will not mention at this point) that this pump would act like a stock pump with the exception of More Power and idle would not be as smooth.

I was "not" told that my truck would idle like a "NITRO DRAGSTER".

I was "not" told that at neutral throttle the truck would buck and rattle.

I was "not" told that during deceleration the pump would sound like it was about to throw something through the hood of the truck



SO I THINK MY COMMENTS ARE FAIR AND ACCURATE!

Thanks for clearing that up Bmanual, I wasn't told that it would sound like a Nitro Dragger either, if my truck was my daily driver I 'd pull it too, but I'm just looking for power for fun. I think I can tollerate the rattling knowing that it is the pump, not something preparing to shot through the hood.
