As you can see by my sig, I have a PE4200 pump. Well, it went out on me the other day. I probably drove approx. 70 miles before a realized my pump had quit working. My question is, could my VP44 be damaged from that many of miles without any help from my PE4200?

The general concensus is it sure didn't help it. Technically Bosch says the VP44 can work well with a -2 psi vacuum.

Historically though, TDR members report that when they have lost their lift pumps, the VP44's life span is shortened severely. Some have reported fairly rapid failures of their VP44 pumps.

DC sets a lower limit of 8 psi as the "failure point" for lift pumps that are going bad.

Get a fuel pressure guage on it asap and just hope for the best.

If you want to have a spare VP44 on the shelf, check with www.CumminsStuff.com and ask for John.

RobbyRam reported that he paid $1000 for his new pump and then received $250. 00 core charge credit when he turned in his old pump.

Luck to you,

John
