My father has an '02 HO 3500 that has some issues. when the truck is cold the truck surges @ 2K rpms and when warm it has an intermittant dead pedal. It also has the 216 code so I am pretty sure the VP is dying. He also has an issue when he changes his fuel filter that he can't get the LP to run 1/2 the time and fuel psi drops as the truck warms up. He added a FASS a couple weeks ago and the fuel pressure is still dropping as the truck warms up, leading me to believe that the ECM is messed up also.

My question is since the ECM is messed up can the FASS be hooked to a run only circuit for the time being? It won't be permanent, just until he can afford a new ECM. What could the problems be if he does it like that?

Also when he gets the new ECM can the Smarty be used to program the new ECM instead of taking it to the dealer? Thanks for your help!

There are guys running the fass system on a toggle switch. If it does turn out to be the ecm please let me know and we should be able to help.

If warranty is still good then go that route.
