I believe that TST and Edge both have new connectors for the VP44 wire, as well as Blue Chip's pump cover method. I don't see why you method would not work. When I tapped mine I used the supplied scotchlok and dielectric grease, works fine but I might as well just pull the @%$^ thing off and solder a hard line to the pump wire. I believe that Stevie Wonder could see the nick(read gouge) in my wire at 50 yds. :--) .

Actually Scott, unless it was some sort of fluke, Edge Products is no longer using the pin lock pump wire tap that was introduced with their Power Edge fueling module. Although I received the aforementioned connector with my Power Edge, I did not receive one with my Edge Comp. Instead, I received a Scotchlock with the corresponding female spade connector.

Personally, I used the Blue-Chip VP44 replacement pump cover on my Ram as well as changing to Weatherpack connectors throughout so I (hopefully... knock on wood) won't incur any possible future diagnostic problems.

Hmmm, I had a 3 level older PE that I bought from HVAC (Nowel) that came with the black plastic pin pierce mech. Looked pretty slick but I never hooked it up. It was purchased back in the fall of 2000, guess that they changed some things since then.

The scotchlok works okay for me with the dielectric grease, but a bad connection is always on my mind and I will solder a lead this spring, for the TST.

Probably a good thing that I didn't have anything smaller than a bright yellow scotchlok for the wire. What a major PIA, I dropped it once while attempting to install and it took me over an hour to find it resting peacefully on the block :rolleyes: .

What's a Weatherpack connector ????

Scott W.

Scott,

A weatherpack is just a sealed connector like the factory style connectors - say like the boost sensor or diagnostic connector with seals on the wire and around the connector.

after trying the needle aproach I scotch locked them. To hard to get to and too tought of insilation on the selinoid wire. Now I pray for no pump failure. :-{}

needle point

If you call Edge they can mail one out, they are not sending in the boxes any more, they are hand made.

I did the chicken method... I installed the Comp except for the fuel pump wire, and ordered the blue chip replacement cover. $50 seems reasonable balanced against the R&D time, as well as some stealth for warranty protection! Hope I never have to find out!
