How hard is it to replace my stock VP44? I have a funny feeling it is on its way out. What do I replace it with? Is there a better model?

I don't know how hard it is to do. I have read the directions in the service manual and it does not look too bad. I know a couple of memebers have done there own pumps. I think if I ever kill mine that I will try to do it my self.

As for what to replace it with... well another VP44 is your only choice unless you want to do a covnersion to a P7100 pump but that is major $$ (like $4K). You can get new vp44's from Piers Diesel for about $1400 and probably from your local Bosch shop for about the same. If you want to spend lots of $$ you can get a hopped up version of the VP44 from Diesel Dynamics. .
