good luck, and if you need help, don't hesitate to call Eric, he's more than happy to help.

This couldnt be more true. I called eric at 5pm on a saturday afternoon from underneath my truck (ruined my phone actually) and he didnt answer. I left a message. Before I could start cussing him because I confused myself he had called me back and helped me solve the problem I was having. He called me back less than 2 minutes later!

So does the 1/2" hose get tied into the 3/8" line coming out of the tank? If so how does the extra dia. in help flow more if you are only pulling fuel through a 3/8 hole to start with? I bought one of his kits from Geno's with only the 3/8" line and get 13lbs idle, and 10 WOT. Next step is to finish with the 3/8" line from the filter housing to the VP, hopefully that will make a difference.

Thanks,

Derek

The inlet side of the pump at its relocation position does slide over the 3/8" steel line with 3/8" rubber(I think) hose with a clamp as close to the tank as you can locate it. Granted might be better to have 1/2" all the way from the tanks but this does work well. After installation my fuel pressure went from 13 psi idle 10 psi WOT to 15 idle, 14 cruise and 13 WOT. Before my erratic pressure would be running 13 psi cruise then after a time would drop to 10 then maybe even to 6 for awhile then jump back up to 13 with no noticable change in engine performance when cruising down the road at a steady speed. After the Vulcan install this has changed. The pressure stayed solid at the pressures I said above until I hit a hill that I had to slow down then accelerate up. The fuel pressue all of a sudden jumped to 10 then back up 13 then down 3 times And once I topped the grade went back to rock solid 14 cruise. The kit certainly helped my problem which tells me it has a positive effect on the fuel pressure. I still have a problem, transfer pump(7 mos old OEM), gauge sending unit, something else? No idea yet but have to make a run to Vegas this weekend without a spare pump and I sure hope I don't regret doing this. As I don't want to hijack this thread will post a seperately to see if anyone has any ideas.

On the none flare side I did carefully use teflon tape but probably not needed I am just very anal about leaks. What ever you do, don't use on the flared side!! The kit from Geno's I think is all 3/8" and is only ment to relocate pump back by the tank to make it a pusher. The one you now get from Vulcan is all 1/2 except the small section from the pump inlet to the tank and still get the pump to be a pusher. Hope this helps.

As Bob said, it's a short 3/8" run from the existing (but cut off) steel line at the tank to the relocated pump. From the relocated pump to the VP, it's all 1/2".

If so how does the extra dia. in help flow more if you are only pulling fuel through a 3/8 hole to start with?

Diameter plus length of run is important. A short, tank-to-relocated pump, 3/8" line (with 1/2" onward) is much better than a long, tank-to-stock pump location 3/8" line.

With my original pump (5 1/2 years, 39000 miles), I was seeing 13 psi at idle, 10 cruising, and zero to 2 psi under WOT. After installing the [non-Genos] Vulcan kit this morning, I don't see much difference. I suppose I'll be in the market for a new pump soon - just have to decide which one to install (if anyone has suggestions/experience, I'd appreciate hearing some advice).

Thanks for the info. The kit is on my list of goodies to buy when I have $$.

Nate, the kit comes with the wiring necessary, nylon ties, fittings, sealing washers, hose, hose clamps, and the mounting bracket for the frame mount, as well as a very good set of instructions. You'll be quite pleased dealing with Eric at Vulcan. I did mine a couple weeks ago. Took about an hour and a half.
