Banks Innercooler leak.

New PPE Clutch In!!

I just installed the Vulcan Kit and a new 65. 00 lift pump. Took a short ride and what a difference. 15psi at idle, 12psi jumping on it. Great customer service, great product, so far I'm very happy. I'm going to run it some more tomorrow and see how it goes. Best thing is, if it goes again, quick and easy to replace.

I'll be doing the same on Saturday afternoon. Can't wait to see the results - I've been seeing 1psi with my current pump way to much lately...

Which pump are you referring to as a 65. 00 pump. I am interested in the same fix, but not sure which pump and where to get it. Thanks

The pump being referred to is the Cummins campaign lift pump replacement - Part #: 4090046. I ordered two from Cummins in Roanoke VA. I decided to order the Vulcan big line relocation kit to move the pump to the frame and go to the 1/2 inch fuel line from the lift pump to the VP-44. The line and pump combo work fabulously.

I think most TDR'er are getting them successfully, but you might have to call more than 1 Cummins place to get them.

What does the kit give to rig up the other end of the LP? Does it go 1/2" from the pump back to the tank or tap back into the hard line or what?

I'm very interested in the Vulcan big line kit but want to know what I'm getting myself into before I buy it.

As a full time RV'er i don't have a shop or garage to work in. Could you give us an idea of how it all hooks together?

Thanks... . Mike

Okay here is what happens the Vulcan big line kit is used to relocate the LP. You will remove the banjo fitting on the input to the VP and the outlet of the FF including the 3/8" steel fuel line. There are adapters provided for the connection to the VP and FP that allow the provided 1/2" rubber hose to be installed using AN connectors. There is also a T in this line for a fuel pressure gauge you will have to plug it if you do not have a fuel gauge or add one. Any extra connectors for the gauge that maybe need is not provided. Next you will disconnect the Banjo and steel line input line to FF and LP replace with adapter in FF to allow input to be converted to AN connection and connected long 1/2" rubber that will be used to get back to where you mount the FP. Remove LP and disconnect electrical and its input Banjo and 3/8" going back to the fuel tank. Plug in electrical connector to connection that was on the LP this is provided. Get under truck and unloosen hold downs along frame rail of fuel line from tank to old LP location. Wire tie 1/2" fuel and electrical wire along frame rail to where you are going to locate LP as close to the fuel tank as you can. On mine I put bracket for FP provided behind the last fuel line frame rail clip using existing screw to mount both the clip and bracket(yours maybe different). Now you will have to cut the fuel line between tank and where you are going to put the LP. I used a hacksaw handle things that only holds the blade not the large frame(not sure how to descibe it). I used jack stands under front of truck to raise it and had less than half a tank of fuel so did not get diesel all over me and every where else when I cut the line. Put adapters in the input and output of LP all provided. Mounted LP to bracket and cut 1/2" rubber line to length and pushed on barbed AN connector to hose and connect to LP outlet(Provide may have to use grease to get it pushed on or heat even). Now measure and cut a short piece of 3/8" rubber hose provided that has AN connector on one end and none on the other. Connect this to LP input and slip other end over the steel fuel line left about and inch or two. Held and sealed on with a hose clamp provided. The adpaters are torqued to 18 FT LBS and the AN connectors snugged up good but for sure don't over tighten. Leave loose the AN connector at VP and bump starter don't start until you get fuel at the location the tighten after getting air out of lines. Then start the truck and your done. This sounds worse than it actually is and Vulcan provides good instructions and all parts except those you may need to connect your fuel gauge to the T connection.

Hope this helps a little.

Hello MHughes: Can you give any info on the $ 65. 00 pump you used. My Cummins dealer here in Jacksonville FL said that is for a larger truck and let it go at that. Does the pump you used bolt up to our pump mount plate that comes with the Vulcan Relocate kit? That is to day does it have the three nut pattern on top that is like the older/org. pump? How about the wiring harness does it fit the new pump also. Thank you very much for any information on this cheaper/better/larger pump. Ed S

The Vulcan kit works with it. That was explored here...

The pump IS the right pump. I have one of the kit pumps and the Genos's Vulcan kit.

Many guys buying them. To cut to the chase, the KIT is for a safety recall for "Cummins Powered" vehicles.

If you qualify, or the person your talking for doesn't know any better, you get the $69 campaign price, if they know better and ask and you don't have the right answer you get the ~$200 price or more.

The Rams don't fall under the category for the campaign kit ( Cummins powered), apparently is a legal term for Cummins supplied engines and warranties. Cummins does not warranty the engines in the Dodges. :(

The KIT includes the pump and a few other things for the safety recall/retro fit.

It's for the buses/trucks and others powered by the ISB with theVP44 and LP.

$70 LP thread:

Read the thread, find other tele # and order via phone and have it shipped.

At worse if you have never replaced your LP, and don't have the newer connector. . ~ 2002 when my lift pump was replaced on my 99, they used the "new LP and pigtail" - new connector.

At worse you'll need to buy the pigtail if you don't have it, 4025182 wire harness for newer LPs ( 3990105 superseded by 4932707 (4932707 comes in the 4090046 kit - both use the "pigtail" or new connector. )

You can get the harness here. .

4025182 WIRING HARNESS --------> $15. 99 + FRT

BK: Thank you for the insight to the entire LP issue and the details. I was able to get two of the campaign pumps and th Vulcan Relocation Kit from Geno's. So I'm ready to go and again thank you for your sharing time and knowledge. Dipstick

Your welcome, all I did was pull most of it off of our Forum into one tidy summation. .

and found the one dealer on line that had the convenient comments about the numbers superseding one another and the harness number that was reflected in one of the posts on our Forum.....

It's what TDR is all about...

One heck of a resource.

So thanks to all the other members that did the past research I referenced.

I just have to chime in and say that this thread IS what the TDR is all about to me. I did a search on the Vulcan kit that is now sitting in my basement waiting to be installed. I was hoping to get a first-hand experience of the install and that is exactly what I found here.

As a bonus I got the excellent summary of the $70 LP thread.

Thanks to all!!

When I was stumped yesterday on my Comp install as to where the data link connector was I hopped on here and had it figured out in minutes!!

Best Regards,

John

I bought the relocation kit from Geno's and put the $75 lift pump in parallel to the originally mounted pump. Should provide darn close to 15psi without variation at WOT. I will find out tonight!

Which one of those steel fuel lines you have to cut? I got my Vulcan kit too,but I'm not sure about the right line, before I cut it. When I looked there were 3 steel lines I think.
