Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) vulcan big line with airdog???

I am looking at getting the airdog. What are the advantages and disadvantages to having the vulcan bigline kit also? Should I continue to use the factory fuel filter also? Or just run it straight to the injection pump?

I have the AirDog on my 01. 5 and it comes with enough 1/2" fuel hose to run from the tank to the injection pump. The drawstraw that Vulcan makes will be advantageous but the big line kit is not needed. The AirDog does not use the factory fuel filter as it has it's own and a water filter also.

Unless you are running huge amounts of fuel you do not need the Vulcan draw straw. The AirDog was engineered to work perfectly with the factory suction system.

good to know... what is the install like on the airdog? How long did it take? Is it 1/2" line all the way to the VP44?

1/2" from suction outlet on tank to VP44. Been so long since I put it on I don't remember; wouldn't matter anyway 'cause I mounted mine in the bed.

why did you choose the bed instead of the frame rail?

Looking to get damaged if you put anything in the bed... ?



Mine is where they specify... it is quiet and works good!

When I did the install I was delivering campers all over the country and had a 115 gal tank in the bed that I wanted to suck from. Not delivering campers anymore, took the tank out, but I don't haul anything in the bed currently. If I was afraid of damaging it I would build an aluminum shield for it as it is tucked in the side of the bed where it really doesn't stick out at all.



And yes, it eliminates any road damage and cannot be attacked by the salt, water, mud, etc. I also have a tonneau cover which helps protect it but was not the reason for putting it on.
