Ford outsells Dodge 3 to 1

Just heard from attendees of the Southern Dealers Assoc. that Dodge has contracted with VW to provide diesels for the Dakota, Durango, 300, and Jeep Grand Cherokee within 6 months. What Have you heard? :)

A twin turbo v-10 in a durango for me please. :-laf

Seriously though, I don't see VW as a supplier when detroit/mercedes are in house and cummins has a compatible v-6 built for this already.

Keep in mind that VW just bought the Stow-n-go caravan platform and we are making it for them here in the Fenton,MO van plant

So the idea of us taking a little something back (and already proven to fit- Toureg) - Is not such a crazy idea :)

My neighbor's Jetta diesel has 190,000 miles on it as he puts almost 200 miles a day on it going to work. He has had only problem when he needed his A/C serviced and other than that he says he gets around 50 mpg with it. Not a bad engine to get from what I have seen.

I just returned from a trip to Germany and Austria. I suspect 50% or more of the vehicles are diesel powered. Most are quiet, with little or no smoke. With diesel going for about 1. 15 Euros/liter or more and gas as high or higher, they are committed to efficient engines. I actually looked at and drove a Dodge Sprinter van with the 2. 7liter Mercedes diesel engine before I bought my truck, but figured out I need more power. I do miss the inside room and seating capacity as compared to the Sprinter or my E350 15 seat Powerstroke equipped van I had previously.

Hello to all,

I've read on allpar.com, that VW will be providing the diesel option for the new Dodge Neon replacement coming out for this year! It is supposed to be a 1. 9-L diesel!

I'll take one..... it would be right at home next to the CTD and my wife's '05 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 CRD.

How to get the bugs out...

I know the Dodge can pull the beatle, now if I can get the bug to pull the truck I might be in business...

I'm with Davey on this one, VW diesels in Daimler Chrysler products don't quite add up. If these reports are true, this likely means that there were some snags in getting DC diesels past emmission laws. It will just be a matter of time until DC-group diesels will be used. The bottom line is that there will be plenty of diesels in Mopar products in the future... if this is true.

By the way, I'd like a Wrangler Unlimited with a CRD and 6-speed manual.

Is the Neon even gonna be around in the near future. I saw something about the Caliber. It's a small car w/ like 3 or 4 different 4 cylinder configurations. Anyone know anything about it?

Now theres a jeep I'd own (Rescue concept), No matter the cost

I like that idea too! Heck, it already passes our country's crazy arse emission laws and is available in the Jeep line anyway. I have been kicking around the idea of a 3. 9 Cummins in a Wrangler anyway... But I definately want a manual transmission! NO CRD/Auto!!!

I am all for diesel power being made available however it can be done. Volkswagon has had many successful years in the diesel industry and they are one of the few who does not give up, despite our enviro nazi laws in this backwards thinking country. How about a little (d-50, ranger, s-10) pickup with a VW diesel? That is what we need for our company parts delivery truck (currently 4-cylinder s-10)

That Jeep is cool. I know a guy who has one just like it only it's way cleaner. His dad bought it new in 1960. It has a Perkins diesel and I believe a 4 speed. It is very nice with good original paint, wish it were mine.
