Hi Guys,

I have been wanting a W-350 for a long time, but have not found one cheap enough. Plus I don't want to sell my W-250 that is setup for me. So here is what I have in mind. I am looking at a Dana 70 cab and chasis rear axle to replace my current Dana 70. I am going to remove the factory bed and put a flat bed on. I need to also add 19. 5" wheels because of the rear disc brakes. I have a new set of front hubs from a W-350. My question is are the front axle stubs longer on a W-350 than a W-250? Also does anyone have a source for some cheap 19. 5" rims? I would prefer steel rims. Any ideas or suggestions would be great. I am in the process of collecting parts and ideas. I would like to be able to use all dually rims so I can rotate the tires. Also, I am planning on putting a 2. 5" Skyjacker lift on the front end. I am going to change the rear springs to a set that has been rearched and had a leaf added. I also have a set of rear overload springs. Thanks for the help.

Its not as bad as it sounds

Hey Bob,

Don't worry, I not canabilizing my truck yet. For most things that I haul I need a flatbed truck with duals. Right now the only thing I don't have on the rear springs is the set of rearched springs with the added leaf. The ovverloads make the truck ride nicely with the gooseneck on. I really hope someone has a W-350 torn apart for wheel bearings and can measure the length of the axle spindle. Then I will know if there is a difference between the W-250's and W-350's. If you could find me a cab and chasis D70 LS I would trade you for my current D70 LS. Anyway, this is all just drawn out on the napkin for now. Maybe I will find a nice flatbed W-350 for cheap.

My thoughts on the rear springs. Your truck rides good right now. I would put a air lift setup on. It is good for around 5k. It doesn't make to ride much worse.

The rearched springs and the added leaf might.

Well looks like after it warms up. We can pull both of ours down and see what the differences are in the front axles.

Your limited slip will work in the C&C housing.

Case 500D;

I believe the spindles on my D350 I had were in the neighborhood of 42-42. 5" long from inside of the end (where the silicone sealant goes) To the end of the splines. I swapped one out when I sold my W350, and it was a perfect fit. Hope that helps.

I have an inquiry along the same lines. How hard would it be to make my W250 into a dually? I was thinking the studs on the rear, and new ( to me at least) wheels. How difficult is the adapter (extension) on the front rotors. ? I was also thinking of a set of airbags on the rear to help the factory 6 or so leafs. Would I need to get the same style dually wheels as the older ones? Or would a set of new style wheels work, as long as they match?

Hope I didnt steal anyone's thunder.

Going up to a dually on your truck means another rear axle or a set of adapters. Your axle is to narrow for a set of dualls. The inside tire will hit the springs. Then the next problem is the Dodge dually rims are coined. Which mean that they have 4 raised areas around 4 lug holes. This coins fit into a counterbored spot on the dually drums. Single rear wheel drum's do not have these coins. You need to space the duals out at least 3/4" more to clear the springs. You will also need a set of 6" blocks also. If you do not install the blocks. The inner bed lip will probably set in the center of the inside tire. :( if you haul a load.

The axle you have should measure from brake backing plate mounting flange to brake mounting flange.

single tire=51"

C&C with duals=53

dually pickup=56

These measurements are within a 1" or so.

My thoughts on adapters=NO

I have seen what the results are when a truck spits a set of dualls off.
