whether you had a 4wd or 2wd before some wise guy came along and decided to smear those cheesy 4X4 stickers all over the bed. Now you just have a 1500, 2500 or 3500, and the parts guys have to run out in the parking lot to check your stickers before he can sell you parts for a 4wd. Personally, I pull 'em all off to keep them confused
The ones I really like are when you ask for something like a doorhandle, and the guy can't find it unless you tell him whether it's a 4wd or not. Jeez... ... ...
I like when they ask "thats a 3500?" and I say "Nope it's a 350" and they don't know that that is, then they say "I thought you said you had a Dodge, not a ferd". So the follow up is "Dodge D-350 Dually" and even then you have to draw crayon pictures for some!
neuroscience..... hehe..... I should have asked him his thoughts on how dopamine levels in the prefrontal cortex affect stress dependent working memory errors... ... ... . or maybe he could have told me why you cannot use a DNA polymerase to fill in a 3-prime overhang... ... .
OK, I'll stop now, getting too fired up about this... ...
FWIW, I work in the field of neuroscience and I have a BS in biology with main focus on genetics and development
... actually, "... . dopamine levels in the prefrontal cortex affect stress dependent working memory errors... . " results in a severe deficiency in short term memory, with resultant execessive smoke and NO2 emissions... I think... . wish I could remember... ...
That's why I stay away from places like Auto Zone, etc. Too much aggravation. It must be a requirement to work there that you cannot think for yourself and totally rely on the computer terminal. I once needed a starter for a motorhome on a Sunday when NAPA wasn't open. I called to check stock before driving the 30 miles. AZ's answer was "we don't have motorhome parts". The motorhome was on a Chevy chassis with a 454, so I asked for a starter for an '84 Chevy K30 with 454. She continued to argue that it wouldn't fit. I went in with the old starter and laid it beside the one for the Chevy truck to make my point. I told the manager that they really should have some automotive knowledge to go along with what the computer says. Just got a dumb stare like I was the one being difficult.....
I sure appreciate my local NAPA. They speak my language - gearhead, I guess. When I need a part for my Jeep which is a totally home-built custom, and the only Jeep parts left are the body and frame, they can help me without ignorantly demanding to know what the year and make of the vehicle is. You can tell they enjoy the challenge of getting you the right part.
Try going in to Pep Boys or AutoZone and tell them you need a set of points for a 6 cyl Chevy. What year?, etc. Tell them it doesn't matter, it's for a Harley.
