Greetings,
I have a firewood guy in his 80's that delivers our fire wood. He brought us our first load today and I saw that his spring hanger was seriously damaged from our road salt we get here. I took a chisel and started knocking the scale off so I could seal it with some high zinc paint. I was really surprised how bad it was. It is really unsafe as he hauls cords of firewood with a dump bed that rides just above his rear dual tires. It looks like it is about to give up and fail. Not only will the rear axle shift rearward (from the shackle pivoting) steering him into oncoming traffic, it also will dig into his flatbed turning him even harder into harms way. It is a 1993 W350 dual rear wheel diesel truck. It is the drivers side front rear spring mount. He is in his 80's trying to make a buck. He does not have internet nor is he internet savvy. He is a good guy and I don't want to see him get into an accident hauling such heavy loads.
I told him I would look here for him and try to find a source for a replacement spring hanger. I have checked Ebay, the classifieds, done some searching and I can't find one of them new or used.
Do any members here have a totaled rig that can I may buy the part from? Possibly a source to find one?
Here is a picture after I covered it with paint to try and stop any further corrosion. I believe it is way past savable. You can see the leaf spring eye. The surrounding frame looks good. It had dirt piled into it for way to long.
Thank you for any assistance.
