Question about sled pulling?

Talk about a liar!! Can you believe this stuff. This is from a biodiesel forum... :rolleyes:

Have an 05 heavy Chevy s. b. crew cab - just love it, diesel fuel is equal to or as much as . 10 to . 15 cents below gas. Cold weather starts no problem, didn't need to plug in the block heater, did so the driver & any passengers wouldn't freeze their butts off. On a good highway drive its about the same as my wife's Impala, 35-37 miles per gal. Great to tow with 20 mpg. 32 ft Triumph travel trailer 12ft high & 9700 lbs loaded.

Definition of "good highway" is down hill with transmission in neutral.

I've towed 9,000 lbs. with a Chevy Duramax - 10 mpg is as good as it got!

Must be combined Highway/City mileage. No, that still unbelievable.

It appears that he is inflating it by about 100%. :rolleyes: Pr obably never thought a Dodge guy would read his post! :D And out him to boot :-laf

I'm thinking he has his overhead set on metric Km/gal or he only drives downhill both ways.

That might be true. Either way, I don't think this guy is lying! I'd bet that in his mind he really is getting that much mileage, and even if you showed him that he's not he still wouldn't believe it.

In my short automotive life I've come to realize that many people decide on a fuel mileage the same way they pick out shoes: they find one that makes them comfortable and happy, and report that as fact without actually taking any time to do worthwhile calculations.

So in his mind, he is being absolutely truthful. Funny to read, though. :)

Remember the VW that was making fuel. His neighbor was slipping fuel into the tank.

After 45 years of mechanicing of cars, truck, tractors, outboard, and machine shop equipment, I have found the above statement so true. Still funny but on the over hand

very serious because his reasoning process is off by at least double.

100% is a lie. . Fudging a couple maybe :rolleyes: . However he knows that his truck isn't getting 35+mpg. :{

I really should join the site and post a link to this thread. It would cost him $35. 00 to disput it! :-laf :D

:-laf C'mon now Ryan, even a fella as nice as you can't buy 35-37 mpg being believable to this guy. Guy is either lying, delusional, or doesn't have the mental faculty to be on the road. Maybe 25-27 mpg I could buy his belief in his unproven wishful thinking, but 37 mpg is just plain silly. Of course there is adults out there that believe in flying saucers, Lockness monsters, and the Easter bunny. So maybe your right, maybe this guy is just mixing up his fuel economy numbers between his truck and his shoes. :-laf

You're right, it sure is WAY out there. Maybe the guy's a really bad liar? I mean, if you're going to lie about fuel economy at least take the time to make up a number that's not so far out in left field that it's not even in the ball park anymore.

I was always partial to the tooth fairy. Somehow I had this vision of a goddess fishing around in my bed. Wait now, I still have that dream. :-laf :-laf

Ryan, I was just having fun with you. You may well be right. I wish I had your outlook on human behavior. I am too cynical and judgmental for my own good. Sometimes I just can't help myself.
