Trying to install new waag kickout nerf bars and hit a snag with the rear mounting brackets. The bracket is to mount through 3 existing holes in the frame rail back near the rear spring hanger. The problem is the 3 holes are already occupied by the frame mounted "stop" for the overload springs.

Has anyone else mounted these bars or encountered this problem? Solutions? Ideas?

Thanks, D Favor

That's a new one for me... .

Check this (rather short) thread.

Maybe he can help you out.

I didn't have the overloads on mine so thier was just three holes for my bracket. The only problem I had was the driver side and tightening the bolts. Real hard to do with a fuel tank there.

Just did mine a week or so ago and they are a real pig. If you read the instructions carefully they tell you to insert the bracket between the overload bracket and the frame. I found the overload springs to be in the way and by jacking up the frame I gained access to the bolt heads. On the inside of the frame, I had a triangle piece that was threaded rather than three bolts. It helped but it is still quite a project. On the drivers side you have the same problems but added difficulty of the fuel tank so you have to hold the triangle piece from the top of the frame while holding the nerf bracket and the overload bracket while trying to thread the bolt through the whole mess. I did mine alone and it took me forever. I recommend jacking up the frame, removing the rear tires and fender inserts, starting on the passenger side, and having a friend help. It is possible and the result is well worth it. Feel free to contact me if you have any problems or questions.

I think I mounted the bracket UNDERNEATH the bumpstop? I have to look. No problems here (Other than the Fuel Tank makes the access to some of the bolts near impossible. )

Thanks guys. Yah, I figured the bracket had to go under the bump stop but hadn't quite figured how to get the stop off... access to the bolts as mentioned is a real bear.

Oil Ape - I do have the triangle mount on the inboard side of the frame. Are the nuts affixed to the triangle so I can just wrench on the outboard bolt and not hold the inboard "nut"? The inboard side nut is an irregular shaped creature that I've not figured out how to hold onto... maybe I don't even need to??

When I installed mine i mounted the brkt. between the frame and bumper for the overloads. I also noticed when I hit bumps my spring hits the bolt heads. This only has happened on the pass side.

The triangle inside the frame has the nuts mounted to it.
