With all the base closings and down sizeings thats happend in the last few years do you think that" bleeding heart"libs will wake up and get back to reality? these people think that we don't need all that much millitary personal to keep us safe from all our so called good neighbors. we have two bases within 30 miles of where i live. they have made through the closers so far they were talking like edwards afb was a worn out old doll ready four the trash two weeks ago. maybe this will change their minds!!

I'm afraid that once the initial shock of this event has passed, economic reality will set in and the base closings will continue.

The politicians will milk this event for all it's worth, then it will be back to business as usual.

Military downsizing is somwhat a thing of the past with the current admin. We will put together a stronger military.

In an earlier post I wrote: "we could have a problem trying to fight a two front war" and I stated that China could be part of our problem in the near future.

Plaese read this article from the International Herald Tribune.

It is a small support for my earlier thinking. We can all get by with less plastic trinkets and worthless garbage in our shopping carts over the next few years and spend the money on more Military forces.

China pisses me off

SoCal Rattler,

That dog looks like a cross between a Labrador Retriever and Curly Coated Retriever thus, you would a Lab Coat Retriever:D

so caL,

It was a joke. There is no such thing as a Lab Coat Retriever.

Just like this... . if you cross a Collie and a Malamute, you would have a Commute, a dog that travels to work.

Or... . Newfoundland and a Bassett Hound, you would have a Newfound Asset Hound, a dog for financial advisors.

NAME THIS COUNTRY:

709,000 Regular (active duty) service personnel

293,000 reserve troops.

Eight standing Army divisions.

20 Air Force and Navy air wings with 2,000 combat aircraft.

232 Strategic bombers.

13 Strategic ballistic missile submarines with 3,114 nuclear warheads

on 232 missiles.

500 ICBMs with 1,950 warheads

Four aircraft carriers

All the support bases, shipyards and logistical assets needed to

sustain such a force.

--------------------------------------------------------

Is this country Russia? . . . No

Red China? . . . No

Great Britain? . . . Wrong Again

USA? . . . Hardly

Give up??

Well, don't feel too bad if you are unable to identify this global

superpower because this country no longer exists. It has vanished.

These are the American military forces that have disappeared since the

1992 election of Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

I was saving that for later in the banter. What a shame huh?

I have been preaching about a two front war and the ability to fight it for several days now.

My Big Brother; Major John Kitchell (soon to be LtCol) just shipped off. One of the things he's been pointing out is the consolidation of bases gives our enemies a unified target to take out entire components of our military with one strike.

The reason we had all those bases scattered around was so we wouldn't be crippled by the loss of one of them. Now with singular bases 'specializing' in one aspect of defense or another we are vulnerable to crippling with a single attack.

That's just STUPID

The bonehead pansy a$$e$ in congress think the military is a business and should be consoldiated. Goes to show what total moronic scumbags they are.

Base closings

What base closings??;) Here in eastern MA we're having a protracted fight over future use of a phased out Naval Air Station. I've come up with a great use for it - a Naval Air Station!! After Tuesday I've heard several people voice concern over living near a military base. Seems to me that's like complaining about crime while living next to the police station!! I am placing a LARGE flag and Thank You sign on our barn roof. It'll give a change of scene to the guys and gals flying their CAP sectors. "Hear that jet?? that's the sound of freedom!"

John Kitchell your comments are well-spoken. As a kid I remember my Dad, a defense contract engineer (ex-navy) comment on that 'systems-redundency'; attack threat incapacitation was the same reason they 'parallel-wired' the ARPANET! Of course, we now call it the internet!!
