helo my name is Edwin i just renewed good to be back.

i was hoping some one can help me with this one.

i have been having my wait to start light flash on and off as i'm driving. works fine in the morning takes about 40 sec to turn off first thing. but if i go down the road and stop at a store then get back in the truck it will take almost 1min to turn off so i can start up. after that is when it starts flashing at me. motor seems to run fine but i would like to get if fixed. any help would be nice. thank's:confused:

somethings not right. 40 secs is way to long.

Have you watched ur voltmeter guage while the light comes on? It should dip when the light comes on. Mine pulls down quite abit when it cycles. I would think 40 secs of that would drain your batteries pretty could.

And the heater shouldn't cycle while your going down the road if your over like 15 mph (not sure on the exact mph).

I'd start with watching the voltmeter guage and if it isn't pulling down when the light comes on, I'd start checking wires and voltage. Might be a cut wire, short or open circuit somewhere in the system. If you can't find anything wrong with the wires pull off the air horn and look at the heater itself.

Good luck

Nathan

Grass Hopper,

Check your relays. They are located under the D/S battery. Cost about $60-80 to replace and come in pairs.

From the BOOK

Air Heater Cycle Chart

Temp. Time/engine not Post-heat cycle

in F running engine running

>59* 0 Seconds No

15 to 59* 10 Seconds Yes

0 to 15* 15 Seconds Yes

0* 30 Seconds Yes

If you need further help. PM me

thank you both. on my way home last night it did not come on at all the out side temp was about 60* but i think it mite be my relays. just not sure. carbman i don't know what all those other numbers are could you please inliten me on these. thank for all ya'lls help.

oh ya one more thing i don't know if this has any thing to with it.

i did the KDP fix on it back in december when i was putting the truck back togetter i had rubbed off my mark on the damper that was to line me back up with the sensor so could that have any thing to do with this? some times when i'm driving in 5th/O. D it will down shift. whats that all about?

this all started shortly after my KDP fix.

Grass Hopper,

Sent you a PM.

On the speed sensor.

It doesn't make any difference in relation to the C/S where you mount the S/S. But it is important that is it is the correct distance from the vibration dampener and not near either of the notches on the V/D. If it is adjusted at or near these notches, it will be damaged when engine is started.

Sensor-to-vibration damper air gap is:

1. 25MM (. 049 in)) minimum to 1. 30MM (. 051in)

A BRASS or non-magnetic feeler gauge must be used to adjust sensor. Tighten sensor mounting bolts to 24 N. m (18 ft. lbs. ) and remove feeler gauge.

Clean electrical connector with electrical cleaner and grease with dielectric grease.

Hope this helps you some.
