Need recommendation of good storage trailer

Is there *anything* like a Brakesmart available?

Brakesmart "reserves"

I see "Ross" (post #15) can't seem to get a replacement

for his failed Brakesmart - or is he puttin' us on?

Has "Steve" at Brakesmart run out of his "reserve" supply

of units? [to replace those that fail]

Note: I said that I ALSO came to the conclusion that

Brakesmart was "the best". But if you can't get the best,

guess you just have to accept "second best"!

And - yeah Ross, if I had one and couldn't get a replacement -

I would be unhappy too!

No, I'm not puttin' anybody on. I did not/have not received a replacement. My first call to them was last February. Steve at Brakesmart is super nice, don't get me wrong, but as I understand it, he is the distributer, not the manufacturer. These units were made by Masterbrake, a different company. DISCLAIMER: I may have these facts backasswards... . My point is I don't have a replacement. Steve has been really nice, and I am sure he means what he says, but Masterbrake (or whoever the "real" manufacturer is) can't get their product quality up to snuff. Are these units made overseas???? Just asking.

My unit's red panic button popped out, and I lost it... Then about every day or so, the unit would reset itself to the baseline parameters. Gain, Sensor pressure, initial brake constant, all would go to their baseline settings. My trailer was VERY heavy (24,000), so these baseline settings wouldn't do the trick. I was constantly having to reset everything, sometimes several times a day... :(

All this being said, when the unit was working properly, it was absolutely the best controller I've ever seen, used, or heard of. PERIOD.

Now that I have my Volvo as a tow unit, I went to a Hayes air operated unit that taps into the trucks air brakes. It's completely proportional, like the old hydraulic units we used to use back before antilock brakes. It works just as good as the brakesmart, and no electronics to screw up.

I've lost interest in Brakesmart. I don't care or want another unit. I am just posting my experience. If you can get one, great! They are great. I hope they get their problems worked out, and all you guys have good luck with them. :)

For those of you waiting on a Brakesmart, read this, I haven't seen anything posted about it. Was on the Brakesmart website. http://www.brakesmart.net/

Hope the wait isn't to long, it's the best one out there.

Been waiting.

I went to the Jordan to look at the 2020, But it is recommended for electric brakes only and I have a electric-over-hydraulic (E/H) actuator for disk brakes on my 5th wheel. Has anyone used Hayes Genesis K181790? It says for use with Electric or Hydraulic braking systems. I now use Prodigy controler, but one time when the roads were wet and I put the brakes on, it locked up my trailer brakes. No help at all trying to stop

From information that I have received. . Steve has had some family issues that he has been dealing with but also doing some business changes. .

Yes I for one can wait to get this controller but sometimes family problems need to be taken care of.

I dont know the whole story and dont want to. .
