pro tec diesel fuel conditioner, anyone use it.

Allison transmission

Any of you guys tried the diesel fuel that's now available at some of these Super Wal-Mart's? I've been getting my diesel from a place near the highway because they sell a lot of diesel there. Never had any problems, however I can save ten to fifteen cents a gallon at this bran new Super Wal-Mart near me.

I'm down in Texas so it's all #2 diesel. Is all #2 diesel from the same place? If you've had any bad experiences from buying fuel at ANY Super Wal-Mart then please post advise.

The fuel is all pretty much the same, what makes a difference is how much they pump and the fuel gets turned over. You might be able to find out at the station by asking. At least the tanks are new and not full of sediment on the bottom yet.

I'm with Bill. It's all pretty much the same. The biggest thing to be concerned with is that the sell a lot of it. After hearing to many horror stories about a bad tank of fuel from "in-town" diesel fuel, I only buy from stations that have a "big truck" fueling island. IMO You shouldn't buy from a gasser station that has a that lonley diesel pump.

I buy fuel at the Meijer close to me. I see a lot of trucks in there, so I figer they turn over plenty of fuel.

One time, I filled my tank and they added the fuel from the pump on the other side to my bill. I guess the other guy drove off without paying. I raise so much **** over it that they gave me my fuel for free :)

I drive by a lot of stations that have the fuel pump stuck in the corner. If it looks hard for the bigger trucks to get to, I figure they don't bother, so the place probably doesn't turn over much fuel.

Murphy Oil

Wally World fuel is marketed by Murphy Oil and comes from a local loading rack, so there is no difference in the base fuel. Where you are up by Denton, the is no winter grade fuel and most will be coming from the Koch Rack in Euless or the Rack in Colleyville. It used to be Diamond-Shamrock and Conoco, may now be Williams. The only difference is the additive package for the major brands. Make sure they have a good volume of diesel sales before you start to buy. Be sure the transport isn't dropping fuel when you fill, and wait at least 30 minutes after a delivery for the trash to settle in the tank.

Good answers

Thanks all,

I'll try and find out if they sell a lot of diesel. If things look OK I may try them. And of course, if I have any problems I'll give everyone a heads-up.

Wally World diesel fuel!!

Geez, what's next? I guess we'll be going to the Wally World Dentist to get a tooth pulled and then we'll be getting laser eye surgery there also, but only I'll get it done when they run the sales adds in the Sunday paper.

I can see the sales add now, "Get one tooth pulled and get a second pulled FREE!!"

Trucking..........

In an average month we consume well over 200,000 gallons of diesel fuel from several different suppliers. I don't see much of a discrepancy in fuel quality regardless of the vender. I've talked to several of the tanker drivers for the inside skinny on the best fuel for my Dodge. Every single delivery driver has insisted it's ALL the same fuel. They haul it every day, so I'm sure they would know. I haven't decided yet if this is a comforting or a troubling thing to be told.

BTW. I will reiterate what everyone else has posted, buy it while it's "Fresh".

Lazy-Boy,

Where's the Wally-World that sells diesel?? Is it off Swisher Road in Lake Dallas???

I'm just "over the hill and around the bend" from you.

That's the one

Hey Bill!

Nice to know there's another TDR member in the area.

Anyway, yea that's the Wal-Mart I was referring to. I checked about two days ago and diesel was at $1. 14. 9. The other place I was referring to is about a mile North on I-35. It's a little Chevron that was at $1. 27. 9. I'd rather use that Love's up in Denton but it's about twenty five miles from my house. So I'd burn over two gallons just getting there and back! It may be that the Wal-Mart price is just normal and the Chevron is way to high? But once I start heading South it's just as bad.

If you know of a better place then please let me know.

I agree with those that said buy it where they sell a lot of it. It is 1. 01 about a mile from my house. I pay 1. 06 at a place that fuels a lot of trucks. If you get one load of bad fuel it haunts for a long time. Hence why I don't go there anymore.
