Hey guys got a question what do you think of those wal mart everstart batteries I used to have one it was the maxx-1n it was huge I went to get a replacment battery and it is the same part numer and CCA but the battery itself is much smaller and here it is 3* outside and my truck wont start I also have a mopar battery in there that is 3 years old any thoughts on that?

You should always replace both batteries with the same batteries at the same time and with at least 750 CCA. They must alway be of the same strength. Everlast batteries are okay, however I would go with Costco batteries because of their better warranty.

I just replaced the batteries in my 96. The Walmart batteries I had in it, lasted over 5 1/2 years. I replaced them with the same battery. They now have a 3 yr free replacement and a nine year warranty, if I remember correctly. And as Grizzly said, replace them both at the same time.

Well just put a new everstart battery in place of the old mapar one wow what a difference I dont think my truck has ever started that well.

Either way I have faith in both of those companies anyone know who makes the mopar battery?

I also replace mine with walmart everstarts. 850 cca each (if i remember correctly) and they have been fine for a little over a year now.

Walmart Batteries

We purchase a lot of batteries, dozers, exccavators, bobcats etc. , as well as dodge cummins. We find that they do not hold up as well as we would like in rough conditions, however there is never an argument when we take one to replace. Most times they can take the number and look it up as to when it was sold, and will replace without question. We also use the diesel conditioner from Walmart probably for over ten years, and have been well satisfied. We use over a hundred gallons a week, and so far good results.

89 Dodge Cummins, 89 Dodge Cummins Rollback, 99 Dodge cummins Dually.

Yeah the manufacture date on the mopar is may of 03 so im guessing with harsh Minnesota winters it had about had it.

I'm still running my OEM batteries in my truck and my wife's 2000 Durango, so I'm not up to speed on current practice, but in my 1996 3500 the Mopar batteries were manufactured by Exide. I had 2 of those fail under warranty - after replacing them with WalMart's AGM batteries, I never had another problem.

One thought that you need to remember..... that all batteries loose power as the temperature gets colder... I don't have a chart in front of me... but the ability to crank when cold is drops by 50% or so as the temperature gets close to 0 *F. That's why and inexpensive battery will work well in the summer and fail in the winter... . it doesn't have power to crank when it's really cold...

Also as your older batteries start to fade away... . they loose some of their power... and again as it gets cold they just don't have the starting power... .

The wal-mart battery is made by A/C Delco. They are a great battery. ;)

I agree that the Wal-mart batteries are a great battery, but that couldn't be so if they were manufactured by AC Delco. I maintained a fleet of GM trucks for 3 years and AC Delco can't make a side post battery that doesn't leak acid out the side post. Kind of ironic since they are the only one that makes vehicles that use the side post.

You cant go wrong with the Wal-Mart batteries. Just save the receipt, they never ask any questions they just replace them. There are Wal-Mart stores everywhere you can always find one if you need a replacement. I have them in my truck, the wifes truck, the boat and my 5th wheel. Never had a problem.

Thats one of the reasons I put in battery warmers that kick on when it gets below 32,I have to be plugged in of course.

I also have an Aux oil pan heater to help the block heater, when plugged in the truck fires right up and takes no time to come up to driving temp.

I use two of the arcticleash retractable cords, the one on the Drivers side is for my battery warmers. The one on the passenger side is for the factory block heater and aux pan heater.

They pull out of the bumper and will extend to 18',no more opening the hood or putting extension cords away every morning in the freezing cold. Just unplug and a give slight tug on the cord and it reels up into the bumper :-laf
