my younger brother (20yrs. ) has worked for our local Police department since he was 17 as a Cadet. he is an MP in the national guard reserves as well. He has two 3rd degree black belts and is a full time college student studying to become a State Patrolman some day. he recently hired on with Wal-Mart as a full time, part time (since we all know there is no such thing as a full time employee at Wal-Mart) employee. For that he has to go through a 90 probationary period before being hired completely. his last two 30 day reviews were normal, no problems. comments such as "works well with local PD" and "follows up on internal investigations in a timely manor" are in those reports. WELL... last Monday he was informed he has been called up to active duty with the guard and has to report to his unit on Wednesday of this week.
he informed his boss of this, as a courtesy. And told him he would be out for four days and would need to adjust his schedule. guess what? his 90day (last work review) was scheduled and done of Friday of last week. they FIRED him. The rotten, no good, SOB’s He was let go due to "substandard performance". last month, out of the four employees they made 10 stops, HE made 3 of those. HE made 1/3 of the stops last month but is rated as substandard and let go.
we all know damn well WHY they let him go, but have no way of proving a case. once again, this is just another example of the extremes Wal-Mart will go to, to avoid paying anything in leu of benefits to someone that is not a good little corporate cheerleader. so now this 20 year soldier is going off to protect the interests of this country and he has no job to come back to, thanks to Wal-Mart. My dad and I both told him to make sure he tells his CO about this too. I know they cant do anything about it but a friendly phone call saying “we know what you did” would make them think twice about doing this again.
I told him to make sure that every day of the rest of his life, he needs to tell 2 people his story and let them see the way these crooks treat their employees.
Anybody have the contact information of the author of the Wal-Mart book? I have some volume two ammo.
