Pulled an International today

I sure hope Hillary Clinton gets elected so she can solve all of Americas problems that the GOP has created. I'm so tired of hearing Bush and the GOP get blamed for every single problem that I'm voting Dem next election just so I won't have to listen to the whining for another 4 years. :-laf

It's a capitalist society guys. When I was in the gravel business if I could of gotten $30 a yard for gravel I would have charged that much. At the time I only could charge $12 a yard. When the demand comes down the price will also. Be patient ;)

I don't think the demand will ever be any less than it is right now. There will be more demand tomorrow then there is today and so on. I wish it wern't that way though.

There ya go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please tell me you're joking! :-laf If that is the case, there will actually be a valid reason to pack up the 1990 Volvo station wagon and VW bus and move to Canada. Oh well, at least the world will be free of war, and our gas prices will go back to a dollar a gallon. :-laf I'll stop before I get in trouble! :D

Not to get political here but diesel would be about 14 cents a gallon cheaper if it weren't for those in congress (who do you think?) who voted on a party line with Al Gore casting the tie breaker in '93 to raise taxes on diesel fuel (among other things as well). Diesel would be much closer to where it ought to be relative to gasoline if it weren't for that extra 14 cents! I'm really surprised the truckers haven't parked it for several days in protest yet over these prices. But, being the good patriots most of them are, they probably don't think it would be proper under the circumstances I guess. God bless 'em all

My God, that was in 1993, and we are talking about Diesel going up $0. 65 in the last year . . that may be a strech at best.

The price of diesel sucks. Where i'm at I just pull up and fill up and leave. Of course my dodge isn't here. The locals i'm told (by and interpreter) is only about 5cents a liter. I'd rather be at home than here in Iraq.

Well, the price of diesel is certainly ridiculous. Don't think it has anything to do with the White House and oil men. Arabs are squeezin, no refining capacity, Tree huggers and other EVO groups, and I think Wall Street has a lot to do with the final price per barrel of oil once bought and resold 6 times could add 10 bucks/barrel or more.

I don't see how the economy can keep on with transporters passing the price on. Cost me $ 80. 40 at Bruces Truck stop in Bakersfield CA last week to fill up. Hope I never have that experience again.

While the work-stoppage by truckers MIGHT have some small temporary benefit, why SHOULD they do a work stoppage? All THEY hafta do when fuel prices go up, is the same as any OTHER business - raise THEIR prices to comphensate! That's a luxury the smaller independents DON'T have due to lack of coordinated effort and organization.

SO, we consumers end up paying OUR fuel increases, as well as that of the haulers...

NOW, here's a question for all the assembled masses here:

IF fuel prices were already up at $5-$6 a gallon in Europe BEFORE our domestic prices went thru the roof, what are THEY paying now - are THEY also paying the same percentage increases WE are, and IF not, WHY not?

Any answers out there?

I don't think it is practical to stop transportation, but it would not take too many "45 mph in all lanes" type of events to get some attention. And everybody will save fuel, unfortunately my therapy expense will skyrocket... .

This an interesting question Gary.

Most of their cost for fuel is taxes, if I'm correct I would say their cost per gallon has gone up the same as our fuel has. About a $1. 50 give or take.

Gary this is just a guess on my part.

I was on temopary duty in Sicily last year and diesel was runing about $4. 50/G. I found this website http://www.iru.org/Services/FuelWel.E.html, and going by that, they're now paying $5. 39/G. So yeah, Europe is feeling the crunch also. I've also read recently that a few of the Pacific Rim countries (ie Sinapore, Indonesia, etc. ) are already screaming about the rising oil prices affecting their economies.

I'm gettin' kinda tired hearing everbody ***** about the price of fuel. While I suspect that most people in this thread are concerned enough about what it costs them at the pump to do something about it, the other 99% of the people in this country still refuse to do something as simple as SLOW DOWN!

I used to be the guy going faster than everybody on my weekly trip over the pass from Central Oregon to the Willamette valley. I still drive the same speed but now I'm the slow guy. Running up I5 at 65mph will about get you run over. When we as consumers make the choice to drive less or drive more conservatively, or, God forbid, not buy a SUV that gets 11MPG, then we can collectively have the right to *****.

Whew, off the soapbox now. I personally would like to see a bigger push for biodiesel production in this country. We win all the way around with a product that helps the American farmer, is more environmentally friendly (can I say that without souding like a greenpeace moron?), and is not imported. If it means I have to pay $3. 00 a gal for fuel, so be it.

GaryK7GLD, drop me a line sometime. I would love to say hi next time I'm out in John Day.

In my opinion, it's just a matter of time the economy starts to show signs of slowing down a lot. People who spent their $$ on things like cars & trucks & TV's or other goods are now seeing they have to spend that extra $$ on fuel for getting back & forth to work. That leaves NO $$ for the extras in life, which in turn shows up in all the economic indicators( or down as the case will be ). People won't have a choice between fuel & a new "toy". Just wait and see...

And watch what happens to areas of the country that rely on the tourist industry...

Can you say "slow-down"?

Just my opinion... John

hey the clinton years were a heck of alot better than it is now. i would vote for her.

The groundwork for those "fabulous Clinton years" was set in motion LONG before most voters could even spell his name - and to keep THIS thread on-topic, name *ONE* piece of beneficial energy legislation HE enacted during his rape of (in?) the office... ;)

Do we REALLY wanna turn this into a political issue?
